Re: Canadian Winter Wheels/tires
Heres another way of thinking about it .
From what I can gather
rim plus tires
costs about 800 more
saves your rims
and gives better performance
if you go with the tires only
you have to pay 2x a year for balance- on the other hand you can I guess flip the unidirectional summer tire around and make it last longer and its easier to store
from my point of view it comes down to safety and performance - how much of a difference is the smaller rim and tire vs the 18 inch stock going to give you
I'd be interested in hearing opinions and about the wisdom of flipping the unidirectional tire from L ->R (of course) and reversing outside and inside to increase wear

Re: Its about safety, not looks dude
I quite aware that winter tires have a softer compound and the blizzaks are the best due to the compound, tread pattern and directional path of the water and snow. I have winter tires, maybe you missed that and the fact that pizza cutters are better in the snow... yah, they are, but for me ... no, I don't plan on driving around on deep snow and if I run into it, then I will take my time. TRUST ME buddy. I also think that a difference of 225 and 235 is quite minimal and I would rather have some meat on em instead of HORRIBLE looking super small wheels and tires.
to each his own.
to each his own.
