yeah, i had looked into these 1pc aluminum ones before>>> http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/...rt%20Alum.html

not convinced they'll be lighter than the ACPT unit, read multiple reviews of their units being ridiculously light.

I just gave the above shop a call their shafts are $475 shipped weigh 15-18lbs. How much does the stock one weigh?

Just talked to my mechanic and he said G35 shafts are steel only the Z and GTR are carbon.

Might pick this one up how much will the CF one weigh?

Just got off the phone w/Powertrain Industries(ACPT's assemblers), they said the current cf shaft they build has steel ends and would weigh around 15lbs. He said he was developing aluminum ends that would shave 2-3lbs off that. I told him about the 1pc shafts and the price point and he said the main advantage of a cf shaft over a full aluminum one would be vibration dampening. He said a cf unit would provide a much smoother ride & power delivery. He did admit that a full aluminum 1pc at under $500 was a great price point. So I asked him if we could possibly get a small group buy price going to help balance out against the full aluminum shaft and he said he was willing to do a 5 person bulk order for the new cf w/aluminum ends setup. He said he'd get back to me on pricing later this week and that it wouldn't take long to develop the new ends, like a week added to the 1st order(7-10 days for current cf w/steel ended shaft).

it's my understanding that the coupes and sedans have the same drive-shaft

install is only a few bolts not counting getting the exhaust out of the way, should be no more than an hr of labor MAX.

G35 Coupe
SDGengious, please keep us posted. I'm down for a cf one if we can get the pricing down with a group buy, I've been looking at getting one for years.

Way stoked for this....subscribed

I too would like to know possible torque handling range of one of these CF shafts. I plan on going FI later on down the road and would like to make sure the shaft would be able to handle higher ranges of torque since we all know torque is what can break things fast. Wouldn't want to add this to my list of upgrades if I won't even be able to use it when the time comes. I'd be looking at 400-500 horsepower with matching torque for my setup to start once the time comes.

Yea, I just got done checking out his build. That's one sick *** G. If that shaft can handle that much torque than I am adding it to the mod list for sure. If you haven't checked out meatbag's build, I'd suggest to. You'll walk away with wet pants thats for sure...lol

Interested to see what the cost is.
