RB26 Swap Project
#62
why is everyone concerned that the rb26 can handle 700hp on stock internals? why does that matter really? if you build 700hp on a vq and 700hp on an rb....it's still 700hp. Ya, you might have to beef up the vq from stock to handle it but it doesn't matter, it'll be still way cheaper and faster to do that.
and there are vq's putting over 750 to the ground.
like most said, i just don't see hte point in a brand new car...maybe something older as a pure sex sports car with no interior.

A 700hp LS1 will almost ALWAYS be faster than a 700hp 2JZ. The higher displacement of the engine allows for higher airflow to spin the turbos at lower rpms, not to mention the capabilities of the vette platform vs. a supra platform...but that is besides the point.
V6 engines never seem to be able to reliably produce the high hp compared to inline 6's either....but that might just be my observations, I dont know. If this guy is into show a RB powered g35 is much cooler than the usual vq too, so keep that in mind.

Also the RB is not a better platform than the vq. It's heavier, has less displacement (=more turbo lag) and if built properly, the vq could operform the RB all day (one of the reasons why the new gt-r is using a v6 tt setup). This is one of the reasons why the RB is not being used anymore, plus the fact that the RB even completely stock will not pass smog standards. For "show" you may be right, but the whole "show" thing has been rapidly dying off recently, (IMA), and frankly those whom would prase a g for an RB powerplant are only thinking of the old skyline and really care nothing for our cars.

Whether the RB is inferior to the VQ, I have no idea, I never said it was. The VQ cant run the high psi on the stock block like the RB can, but anyone debating between the two will have enough $$$ to build it anyways.
