i have a 2006 g35 coupe 6mt.. and lately i been realizing that i have been only getting 2 1/2 qts of used motor oil coming out when i drain it. is this normal? i change my oil every 3,000-3,500 miles.. i use synthetic..

i have about 73,000 miles on my car.. f*#%King warranty is over..

 

are you removing the oil filter too? is the car level?
im guessing you engine is using oil, search "oil consumption" on here this forum

 

If your engine is going through that much oil between oil changes. Then more likely you got the OC.

You are burning oil. You have an 06 and out of warranty? We need to make Infiniti recall all the 05-06 Rev-up motors.

As for the oil filter comments, I doubt an oil filter even holds 1/3 of a qt.

The G holds 5qts. And ohe nly got half back.

He should have at least gotten 4qts out. The G is burning oil. I wouldn't use Synthetic Oil from now on. Use the thicker dyno oil. Of, if using synthetic, use the 10w until you get a new motor.

 

i was just brainstorming with the oil filter idea. but if youve ever noticed, more oil will come out of the drain plug when you take the filter off.

 

isnt that because there is more air flow with the filter off and drain plug out? i think you are seeing it come out faster there isnt necessarily more oil coming out

 

it was on a different car when i saw it. i let it drain till it was a slow drip, then removed the oil filter, the slow drip changed to a slow pour. it wasnt a lot, but some extra did drain out. i would assume most cars would do this, prob just another part of the engine getting air like you said

 

I"m assuming when he changed his oil, he also removed the oil filter. LOL

 

you would be surprised, some ppl dont. he obviously didnt notice his engine only had half of the oil it should have....
