Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

It's unlikely that it'll void warranty. Every local dealer I've talked to says no so far, but I'm sure there might be one that has issues with any mod. Different auto makers have differing policies about mods as well. I've heard for instance that Volvo is very mod unfriendly in particular from the aftermarket people here. To be safe, I always say check with your local dealer that you bring your car to. I know ours even does a coupe exhaust swap to the G35 sedan, and is also doing the Z-duct swap as a recommended power upgrade, as well as offering GroundingGear™ as a performance enhancement.

Thanks dude - got it in last night while GF was out drinkin'. Runs just as good as with 6 wires. Now Hows that 8th wire treating you??

Don't really notice a difference with the 8th wire. But the 9th wire to
the ECU has really perked my attention. I'm trying to find out
more about it. The pioneer of the 9th wire stated that it made
twice the difference in improvement compared to the 7 wire
install!

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Gordon,

You know I went to Maxima.org and started a thread there asking
if any Maxima owners have Hyper-grounded their Max's. I stired
up quite a bit of interest! It seems that none of them thought buying
a pre-made kit for the money that was being asked was worth it.
Here is a response from one of the guys that made his own kit:

Wired mine up this past weekend, yes this mod is well worth the 20.00 something dollars it cost. Is it all in my mind that this grounding mod worked at all? No, because this mod does work I noticed an increased throttle response, smoother shifting and the idle have improved. Just to get doubts out of my mind I drove the car after the install and came home unhooked the wires and drove it again the difference was night and day the power seemed to be more linear not necessarily more power but smoother throughout the RPM band. Also note that I tested the window up and down thing rolled the two front windows down and closed them at the same time they closed much quicker with the grounding wires attached I tested this three times and every time they rolled up faster and evenly with the grounding wires attached. People can doubt this mod all they want but I’m convinced this mod is well worth the short time and money I put into it.

Gord,
Gotta have that 9th wire to the ECU!

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

If anyone wants some interesting reading, go to Maxima.org
5th Generation (2000-2003) and read the
Hyper Grounding a 2000 Maxima thread. There is a skeptic
there with a handle of itdood.
The banter is getting pretty funny/ugly. This guy is the #1 skeptic.
Even with testimonials from some Maxima owners who have
just recently grounded their Maxs, and with published Dynos
showing hp/torque increases, this guy is still insisting that
those of us who say we see improvements are full of Sh*t.
I have to laugh out loud at some of the posts!

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Cato:

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to read that thread!

Normally, paying for a commercial kit is not worth the money, particularly if you have the skills, time, equipment, and know how to put your own kit together. This is particularly true of the generic kits, as they don't have the custom lengths nor identify the ideal ground points to use. It's been through the information disseminated through this thread that I've been able to engineer the use of the extra wires specifically for our G35s. Z-Xtreme has adopted our use of the full length 7th wire for his kits, and I've been told that ppl have called Stillen to ask about it (which of course they know nothing about) I've been providing the information necessary for fellow G members to make your own kits, and have even taken time to direct you elsewhere to make your purchases or information, which I will continue to do as time permits.
It's still interesting to note that while many are prepared to pay considerably more for mods like shift *****, and aluminum pedals that do little to actually enhance performance, they will compromise on the quality of an engineered product because of either skepticism or the belief that they can produce an identical product! My fear is that some will buy either a poorly made grounding kit, or make one themselves, and because they are disappointed with the results, claim the widely held notion that Hyper-Ground kits are nothing more than snake-oil! I know, I started out as one of these skeptics! I'm glad I did my research, and took the time to properly engineer the product for my own G, rather than just make a set out of welding cable as I had initially planned! The more I speak with the Electrical Engineers, the more I believe that I would probably have gotten variable results if I had done so.

Gord...if you need another tester for the 9th wire...I'm willing to put my G up to be poked and prodded. :-)

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Yeah bit #9 may be as good as 1-7 or 1-5!!! Big difference in this single wire apparently....it's being tested.. I like this better than plenums and flywheels that cost bigger $ and possibly make life difficult.

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

I hope to take mine up to 12 wires! I added two of my own
to Gordon's 8 wire kit. Numbers 11 and 12 will go directly
the the ECU and TCU.
