Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

I've found that on our G35s, the 5 wire kit works wonders, big bang-for-the-buck. Other vehicles seem to benefit from a minimum of 6.
On the G, the 6th wire seems to benefit more 'enthusiastic' driving styles for both MT an AT. The 7th wire benefits AT shifting and response. Anything over this is purely experimental there is not enough empirical data to say anything other than "It looks cool"!

Thanks for the response. I'll get a clamp and attach it.

You can't do better than Gordgee's Kits.

I recommend you send him a PM and see if he has time to build a 7-wire kit for you.

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Installed Z-Xtreme HG kit. Cars seems a little smoother on start up. Have not had much seat time since install, so can't tell if there are any other changes. BTW, I highly reccomend Z-Xtreme HG kit!!!!!!!!

Hey, hey Gordgee!!!

Thanks for the recommendation on the crimp. I have been using one of these since the beginnig - never used the hammer type. Too noisy!

Also, thanks again to everyone! I appreciate everyone's support. Thanks to Gordgee for doing a fantastic job on the kits and keeping this thread alive for so long.

My thread over at my350z just passed the 500 mark! Who would have believed there would be so much interest in just a few wires?!?!

Everyone - Be well!

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Hi All,
I put on gord's kit on my G35S 6MT about 1 month ago but got so busy I neglected to post my feedback to this forum.

First of all, the car was only about 1.5 months old at that point and I was just finishing up the 1500 mile break-in period.

I had the 5 wire kit in my garage for about 2 months at the time that I finally put it in. My first impressions when opening the box was, 'this is some great stuff'. The wires exude high quality from the workmanship to the materials.

It took about 2 hours to install after making a run to the hardware store to replace a battery nut that fell into the battery compartment (is that the source of my occasional clicking?)!

After putting it in - I took it for the obligatory test drive. First impression - my idle is way lower (not sure how much), but I can barely tell the engine is running. After about 2 miles of driving it, my feedback is pretty much consistent with everyone else in this forum:
- general smoothness in the reving of the engine
- so much so that my wife even noticed (and wants the keys more often!).

Is there any negative feedback? Well, I had come into this car class from Acura's and Honda's so I had always been 'cautious' with the torque since I wasn't used to it. After the grounding kit install, the engine seemed less torque-ey. Its more like a electric engine (linear power), much more behaved. I don't think its slower or weaker, but its just easier to run at revs. Its only negative in the sense that it doesn't have that pony car V8 type of feel anymore.

Thanks Gord for making this kit. And sorry for taking so long to keep up my end of the deal.

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

G_Money,

Funny you should liken the engine to an electric motor, I made the exact
statement on this thread when I installed the 7 wire set. It still is so
smooth that the analogy stands, but when I added the 350Z duct,
it growls again. Still silky smooth, electric motor like at low rpms.
Getting my 2000 Maxima out of the shop this afternoon.

I will install a Gordgee 5 wire set made especially for the 2000 Max.
This is gonna be fun!

Since the Max has been in the shop for 3 weeks, the wife has been
driving the G35.
Hope she doesn't expect to continue driving it. Will post our
impressions of the Maxima with the GG HyperGrounding kit soon.

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Gordon,

We got the Maxima back from the body shop yesterday.
New front bumper, new hood and new passenger side
headlight. Also had the rear bumper fixed and painted.
The car looks brand new! As soon as the wife parked it in
the driveway, I popped the hood to begin the 5 wire install.
I had not driven the Max in over 4 weeks prior to the install,
so I couldn't notice an apples to oranges difference. Once
installed, I test drove it on a 6 mile drive around the area.
Man, it felt as smooth as the G35! Never noticed that before.
The car just felt like it was rock solid and smooth as silk.
Gave it to the wife and had her drive around the block. She
came back and said "What...I don't notice anything!"

Of course she is not into technical engine stuff. How disappointing.

This morning after she came back from the gym, she walked
up to me and kissed me, thanking me for all I have done to
her Maxima. (fixing rear bumper, extra body work not covered
by insurance, and adding the grounding kit.)

She said she noticed how smooth the Maxima had become!
Maybe she will show me in other ways how much she
appreciates all that I do!

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Just installed my Z-xtreme.com 5 wire kit. Let me tell you, the quality and finish of those cables is top notch. It took me probably 45mins to install those wires. Mainly because I kept popping into the house and looking at this thread to make sure I was doing it right. The instructions that came with the kit are a little to technical for a non-technically inclined person like myself. Pictures may help a lot. Anyway, after the install I took it for a spin. I noticed that most of the observations that have been made here are true. The smoothness when shifting and so on. The only thing that kind of fell short was the ignition time. It seems to me that its still the same as before. It cranks a little too long before starting. But that I can live with. Everything else was on the money. Thanks for the thread, its saved me alot of searching on the net.

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

Just installed the 5 wire kit from gord. I have to agree with all the previous posts. The engine idle is smoother and acceleration is also smoother.

Excellent quality wires and great instructions.

thanks,

gord

Re: Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread

I installed the 5 piece set from Z-xtreme.com last weekend, i must say the quality of the wires is great, but the directions vere terrible. Good thing that i remembered a pic of it installed here, after looking at it it was a snap to install, took me about an hour going slow about it.
