Nice Said Eric, Naw man I aint into that relentless autosports bashing thing, I dont have enough info to back anything up on that so thats out of the question.

I was just wondering why you wanted to go to that shop, and now i do, and I believe it when you say they do good work, fosho

As for why I didnt go relentless, its because I didnt know much about that shop, I heard of the shady stories, but heck everybody had shady stories. Plus going to all the small shops, I always have trouble with the small shops, so therefore when I saw GTM and what they did, I was like hell yeah, I'm sure R.A is a good shop too, atleast they know our engines.

You're right, GTM does have a long line waiting to get worked on, its like a freaking doctors office haha, or a vet and your car is the patient haha, it may take a while to get worked on, the price may be a bit higher then others I do agree, but in my opinion its much worth it for me no regrets, well I have the money but yeah.

There is no gtm vs r.a

yeah I just posted that to prevent this thread from going towards the wrong direction.. its just intended for good reading..

I mean things to consider when shopping for a shop to do a big project like this.. because it IS alot of money.. those of us that are FI know that we've easily spent $20k on the car (overall)

1. What they specialize (Make, Model, type of work)
2. Product - shop will sell you what they think are good products but watch out for big name shops like Greddy Dealer, HKS Dealer, etc.. They are required to push $$ for those companies so your parts will be what they deal. But it also means they're direct with that company and can take care of you down the line and specialize in their products. (GTM = HKS dealer, APS dealer, etc..)
3. Who the shop works with.. Machine shops, powdercoating, headjobs , etc.. you'll want to trace the source of their work to make sure its done by quality shops
4. Techs.. how long the techs been there, what they specalize.. etc..
5. Methods.. you talking to a car-freak or a salesman?

Relentless
JWT Dealer.. Relentless for sure.. I mean there are a ton of other dealers but Relentless and their tech is who JWT turns to and they helped R&D. Also who knows the kit better then they do?

Tech history.. Relentless guys are Nissan specialists and know their stuff.

Only downside to the shop is that they're small but thats it theres nothing they cant do.. from a business view its less money for them to make because they have to buy dyno time and everything but in return they dont have to buy a $$,$$$.$$ dyno.. so ups n downs..

GT Motorsports
HUGE place.. at least 8 lifts.. 2 dynos.. (lifts at $3,000 a pop x 8 and dynos.. plus facility x.x) damn thats a **** load of equipment but then they arnt stressing on work so made props to a well built shop.

APS dealer.. If i would've gone APS TT then like I said I'll be at GTM right now =) they know the kit better then anyone and they're confident about it.


Anyways hope this thread tips the scale for whoevers down for Vortech or TT..

Reason for JWT TT:
1. Hidden, especially with a black FMIC
2. Quiet.. very quiet..
3. I'm PRETTY damn sure a regular kit will pass the sniffer.. keep in mind JWT was trying to get a CARB Badge for a while.. so I'm still pretty sure they'll pass.. I'll post details about that once the kit is on my car.
4. Local company
5. I love their popcharger

^ They did.. after a year of R&D they dropped it but I'm sure they werent failing the sniffer...

I'll check it out and pull it up on our SMOG machine to run a test and see if it'll pass =)..

I don't think the issue with the JWT TT kit is passing the sniffer test. As a matter of fact, with the stock cats in place, I'm pretty sure it would pass the sniffer. From my understanding, the issue is with the cold start. The cats don't warm up fast enough to catch the emissions produced by the TT kit at cold start. In any case, nice choice Eric. I love the JWT TT kit also and wish it was CARB exempt. I just can't afford all of the headaches associated with getting busted so I will be SC'd until such time that a T/TT kit ever gets CARB approved in Cali.

Hector I have heard that this is the issue with all the TT kits that tried to pass CARB.....my question is how did the GTR or any other factory equipped TT car get past this issue

Air pump that'll heat up the cat faster?

it doesnt have to be instant but it does have to be within a set time..

sorry let me edit that.. air injection pump routes exhaust gas back into the headers before CATS to heat things up faster.. to keep it simple

Whose doing the work? If you going with the 530, I suppose you don't really need to build the motor.

Just realize that the TT costs about 3x more than the supercharger to do everything right. I would know, lol.
