pre-emptive engine build

I am planning to do a basic build so i could slap a vortech on later, and the question is what compression ratio to get? ive always heard low compression for boost, but that was from my 300z friends which know nothing about SC's

currently i know i will be needing :
Eagle forged rods
Weisco Pistons (11:1 or 8.3:1 ratio)
and the HKS headgasket
and L19 vs normal studs?

Around 9:1 works fine.

Your best solution is buy the Forged Performance Stage 1 short Block. I don't trust anyone in our area to machine/build a VQ 35.

Forged Performance pistons are Arias and believe thier rated to 1800 HP, they have alot of piston slap until heated up.

Okay... so which is better? Supercharger or Turbo?

Whoa whoa whoa! Kidding guys.

Anyway- proud to be a noob... And, in being one wanted to give kudos for putting SO MUCH info in one place. I learned more in the first posts than 2 hours of google. (I'm a slow learner).

Sorry to hijack the thread but keep up the great work!

O.k i did some research an still feel like a noob. so this is the best place to ask the question. What single turbo setup is good for an awd 2005 g35? An would you recommend putting it on a car with 80k miles. What would i need too install or change? How much would the kit cost?

hello all.. I'm kind of new to boosting cars.. all my prior cars where either came boosted or just built good. I wanted to ask on Nissans...
I know i need a full kit I was thinking of the SFR package.. my question is, do I need to upgrade my Exhaust? cats? OR go stock on those? can i run this SFR turbo package and still be smog legal? I live in cali. my car will be fully paid off in 2/2/2011 i have a 05. I would like to know how much money i will need. I want to make sure i don't blow my engine, ill keep it low boost, this is and will be my DD car. how much money should i budget? id like a shop to do the work for me, make sure its done 100% right. Id like to ask those that have done this how much did u pay? how low can i get this done for?

if I go FI and get supporting mods through the following year or two, will that cause any damage ? The car is already at 145k miles and I want to get a vortech supercharger.

on a 06 5AT what all needs to be modified to fit a kit that was intended for a 6MT like the greddy kit? Looking at some of the kits in the FS section but not sure what i will need to do to make it fit my 5AT. Thanks

I don't know the answer but I don't think much, if any, needs to change. I just got that kit installed, I'll call the shop tomorrow and get a definite answer.
