Guys,

Do any of you Stillen SC owners tighten the blower belt ever so often?

It's coming up on exactly 1-year since I had the blower installed. The belt looks fine, and was wondering though - if it needed to be tightened and how to do it exactly - I have no freaking CLUE!?!?????

If I did tighten it - how many Lbs per sq inch to tighten it to - assuming I would need a TORQUE WRENCH.....

Any help (pics would help a ton!) would be greatly appreciate guys!

Thanks Guys!

Hows it going WoW??

To be frank, I never tighten the belt. The tension is perfect the way it is. I do need to figure out, however, how to fix this issue. Now with the cold weather, every time I turn on the car, the blower belt screeches like a banshee. It's bad. I don't know what to do about it.

Do not under any circumstances use that damn spray on serpentine type belts as it will get worse.

Your belt may feel ok but it's still to loose if it squeals.

I replaced all of my belts. It is a pain to get them all just right I still get a slight chirp when starting cold. I feel like I am always on the lift adjusting belts and it never goes away.

Where do you live? I'm in Atlanta and we've been hit with what "we" consider a quite cold winter this year. Getting down to low's of 17's etc...on specific days....My coupe is garaged at night so I'm sure that helps. Even in the summer I would here a slight "squeal" but nothing loud enough to worry about - more or less the nose of the Supercharger - I thought that was somewhat normal...it's barely noticeable at all.

I wonder if your squeal is from the car sitting outside and getting really, really cold?

What I've been doing lately is this (and it seems to really help on start ups on cold winter days)...Sit in the car and turn the key all the way to ACC - which will crank up the water pump, radio comes on etc....the step on the ignition right before cranking...let it sit there for 7-10 seconds and then when cranking - hold for a SPLIT SECOND longer than you normal do and then let go....I'm talking like a split second...not holding for a full second longer than you normally do (sort of hard to explain - video would be better and I'll try to take one and post up)....

This above ^ *seems* (could be all in my head) to produce a better 'initial cold crank'...

Let me know and yeah, don't spray that belt sh&t on it, it will only make it worse and make your belt SLIP more!!!

What I've done is taken a brand new (clean - ie, shook the initial micro-fiber bits off the rag) micro-fiber rag and gently cleaned the belt to take off any dust and debris....that seems to help a TON...

Thanks Guys!

Oh P.s. - I've heard like a baker's dozen or so members now say that they've changed their own belts (supercharger belt) - but I've yet to see anyone post up a DIY....can someone please do this for those of us (me included) that want to change our own belts...

I talked with Sharif at Forged Performance where I had the SC installed and he said it would be $100 to change one belt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! really, one freaking belt is an hour worth of labor??? I'll have to e-mail him again and make certain that is still the total cost just to change out the SC belt, b/c that is retarded $$ to me for changing one belt that is right in front of you and relatively easy to get to....what do you guys think about that??

^ So you think $100 to change that belt is reasonable then?
