Ive been keeping an eye on mine lately and it seems like its using more and more. Calling the local Nissan dealership tomorrow and seeing if they can do the test for me.

I added a quart about a week ago and its already more than 1/2 way down into the hashed marks after a 300 mile roadtrip.

just shy of 67k on mine.

Nissan/Infiniti should recognize this problem!

So I've had my G for almost 1 year and now im looking at picking up a new engine cause i didn't know of this VQ35DE problem of sucking up oil hella fast. I thought my computer was acting up cause even after giving it an oil change the light for oil would turn on for about 10 seconds then turn off during start up. If any one needs me to write up a report on how much this sucks let me know. and if anyone could help me figure out what to do next it would be most appreciated.

That sucks! I got an 04 and put Royal Purple in with Lucas oil stabilizer and and have no change in the level. I can't believe you spend what we do for these cars and they have this type of problem, it's not a Huyndi sp !!! Best of luck to you.

Drove 120 miles to the closest Infiniti dealership yesterday. I go back in 1000 miles to see if I pass or fail... hopefully I fail so I can get a new block.

Kinda pissed though... the a$$hole mechanics left greasy handprints on pretty much every bodypanel except the roof... wtf? Why they gotta touch the outside of the car for an oil change and an airbag harness recall fix?

Just read thru about 25 pages of this thread...

Anyone got any tips for me? I feel like the Milwaukee area Infiniti dealers are all gonna be a hassle. Read nothing but bad reviews about Northshore Infiniti and my one and only experience with International Infiniti was poor.

Is there somewhere it says they arent supposed to charge for the initial consumption testing oil change? A$$clowns charged me.

Has anyone recently only went the first 1000 miles and gotten a new engine approval after 1 oil check? I put in almost 2 quarts in about 4000 miles last oil change before I decided to have testing done.

I told them I wanted to see the full level before the car was off the lift, of course they didnt come get me. Obviously the oil needs to drain back into the pan before they get an accurate reading. On my receipt it stated the level was 2mm below H. Is that the measurement you guys were getting when you did the first oil change by them? For all I know they could have checked it right after pouring in the oil and it didnt drain and fill the pan causing it to actually rise later on.

Also I have a $2 charge for a drain washer... This is the only time Ive pretty much ever had my oil changed at a dealership, I ALWAYS do my own oil changes. Never have I used or replaced a washer. Could this be some sort of lock washer that if I remove the drain plug they will know? Obviously Im not gonna remove the plug since Im pretty sure this motor is burning substantial amounts without me emptying extra out.

Im reading the TSB infront of me. It says if you fail they top you off and then send you on your way until youre new block arrives and you come back in for a motor swap. Now I was told by the dealership that if I fail my car stays there and sits until the new block has arrived and is installed. What happened with you guys? DId you take your car back until the new block arrived or did you not even get to drive your car home?

when we do an OC test, we normally just check the level if they come back within the 1000 miles and top off and they go. but if we drain the oil to get an accurate measurement we charge them for the oil service and to come back within 1000 miles. once they come back and we confirm it.......we order a longblock and tadaaa

Infiniti delaership in Orlando is sending me my car back for the second time. I already had them do a 1000 mile OC test and they said the oil was at the right level, even though a week later my car's oil light started flickering. Sent it back with low oil for them to see, and they are making me do another 1k mile OC test, just so it can be towed back there in another few weeks. While it was in Orlando, since they didn't "know" what the problem was. It shoots white smoke out of the exhaust when driving or revving, obviously it has an OC problem. I sent it to them thinking I would be taken care of instead of dealing with Infiniti in Jacksonville, but 3 months later, all I have are towing bills and a bunch of wasted time.

Got my car back today after them saying they still don't see oil being burnt. I am going to be highway driving a lot so there is no doubt some serious engine oil will be burning vs driving around in the city. This test should show some results. More oil burnt, the more evidence they need to fix my freakin car.

It usually only effects the rev-up engines.
