Everyone: Check Your Oil!
#632
I have an appointment to bring my 04 6MT to the dealer tomorrow to have them look at this. I've always changed my oil myself, and I'd always funnel the dirty oil back into the Mobil 1 bottles. Everytime, I only filled about 2.5 bottles. I think the most was 3. I've noticed ocassional chattering from the engine bay, but never thought much of it. Will post how it goes at the dealer...

Yikes, brought my car in this morning. The service advisor told me that they drained my oil, and the technician said there was less an a quart of oil! I get my oil changed about every 5k mi with Mobil 1 5-30W. It's been about 4k mi since my last oil change. They did the oil change service on my car and starting me off on the oil consumption test. Wish me luck....or not...
Btw..to those that had a non-revup engine and had to get their block replaced, did they use the same engine or a revup?

IMO, they would do the reverse, which I doubt they do at all for legality reasons.
They can't be switching VQ types that you didn't originally purchase and your G is spec'd for under it's VIN #.

I'd like to keep the non-revup anyway. So this is the news I was hoping to hear. Now let's see what the dealer actually does...

always a good idea to check your oil level weekly if you put on a lot of miles!
You can check how much oil you use between changes by using the dipstick
before oil is drained. daaaa

i changed my motor oil and filled it with 5w30. i drove for 30 minutes afterwards keeping my rpm less than or equal to 3k.
when i turned off my car it sounded like it was out of oil again!
if if is empty then that's definitely draining, not just burning oil, i think!
i made an appointment to test for oil consumption, they said they're going to start with making me buy a new oil change

Good luck fellas. Just have patience and be persistent. If your G is consuming oil and you are still under warranty, Infiniti will have to give you a new engine. I was told that Infiniti requires 3 seperate oil consumption tests before they will authorize a new engine. Just stay on top of it and don't wait for the dealer to take their time. I basically became a pain in the a$$ but in a polite and respectful way. In the end, it all worked out and I got my new engine.
