I'm looking in the owners manual for my 07 G35 (purchased 2 days ago) and the book says the engine model is VQ35DE. Am I missing something? I thought they changed the engine. I'm going outside to check it out first thing in the morning.

ahh, I'm going to sched an appt and have the 22,500 maintenance performed. I'm also going to ask about this oil burning issue b/c that really sucks. This is the last thing I would have imagined regarding a car of this quality. Oh well...

I am the 2nd owner of my car and I was given a new engine b/c of OC. Just as long as your power train warranty is still valid the dealership "should" honor a new engine if your current engine is consuming too much oil.

does this pertain to AUTO . ive got an 05 coupe w/ 36k and hear a weird noise clicking after startup for a split second, mind you the temperature is 20-35 degrees in the mornings if that can attribute the noise to anything. it was just a concern to me, i am coming up on an oil change here within the next 40 miles of 3500 miles.

I would say yes, as I have on 07 G coupe. The engine is the key, if you have theVQ35(DE) then you could have the OC issue.
Check your oil level and see if it's low.

^^ the warranty goes with the car, not the driver.

So I called my local dealership to sched my 22,500 mile maintenance. I mentioned to the service tech that I had heard that there's a possible OC issue with the VQ35DE engine. He stated that this is only an issue with the manual transmission engines.

Of course I informed him that I would need that in writing.

Just thought I would share that info with you all.

Went to the stealership for an oil chg and asked for them to give me something in writing regarding my G35 not being at risk of OC. They stated that they have nothing in writing to give me and that I would have to monitor my oil levels say every 1000 miles. If I noticed that the car was eating oil they would then start having me bring the car in every 1000 miles and if they confirmed it they would then replace the engine.
whatever...

^ That's a true statement what dealer saying. It's the revup VQ's that mostly have that issue, which why there's a TSB 'only' for those.

Non-revups will be replaced under warranty period if having severe OC, but the OC testing and qualifying parameters are different with non revups..

Some advice please

Hey what is the procedure to getting the OC fixed?

I have a black 05 G35 6MT running on Mobil fully synthetic 10W-30 w/ K&N performance gold oil filter and it's due for an oil change.

Should I make an appt for an oil change along with the OC test?

I'm not sure if I'm correct or not, but I thought I read on one of the thread that they should pay for the oil change.

Also, will I have a problem if I haven't been getting my oil changes from the Infiniti dealerships for the last two years?

Thanks!

You have a revup VQ, so TSB pertains to yours.

Best time as any other.

They should. TSB has claim code for dealer to get reimbursed for that. You need an oil change anyways and very possibly will get a fresh VQ later on. Up to you how much you want to make an issue about it or not if they charge you. Maybe they won't, nicely mention if they do. Study the TSB and understand 100%.

Long as you have proof of past ones, you're not stuck with having to do those with dealer to keep warranty valid.

Thanks so much for your respond; I greatly appreciate it! Also, thanks for the other reply too. I didn't know that there was a site for me to make the complaints about the bad customer services from the dealerships.

I'll be back to report on the service I get because I already made an appointment to get the OC check tomorrow....
