BUMP

Just did this however I still cannot fill up with more than 12 1/2 gallons. The driver side was real dirty however the passenger side was not. Maybe I'll clean out the passenger side again just to make sure. Also, do the floats face the same way (forward towards the front of the car?) The following illustration shows the float (#11) facing towards the middle/driver side side.

Anyone?

^^^ be sure you didn' t bend out that thin bar that it doesn't make contact anymore on the upper scale.. did you take that small assembly apart to clean it, the one at the other end of the floater.. there are no screws to lock it, just 4 clips.. this piece.. i suggest you move the floater up and down slowly and see if you hear a clicking a sound.. it should make one as it passes each bar / notch

I don't remember hearing any clicking while moving it. I'll take it out again and do a little more inspecting and cleaning. Thanks for the assistance.

it's not much of a clicking sound, but you will / should hear something as the metal piece goes thru each bar if the contact is good..

I made literally 10 seperate trips to the dealership to get my gas tank issues resolved. Now whenever it goes under 1/4 tank it gives me gas light but is generallly accurate, I figure that's as close as I'm going to get. They replaced everything, except the actual tank slowly, one by one, the last thing they changed was the actual gauge cluster and that seemed to work. Very strange indeed.

Took out the passenger side this morning and realized that the black hose/bundle from my HKS pump was wedged in between the float and the sensor limiting the float arms movement. I guess I wasn;t so careful when I re installed last time. Filled up and got a full tank.

THANKS!

My 03 won't go past half tank when full. Replaced the level sensor on the driver's side and still nothing. Cleaned the level sensor on the fuel pump side and still nothing. Wanted to replace that sensor, but the dealer said they can only sell it to me with a new fuel pump assembly for about $375. Anyone know where I can get the sensor connected to the fuel pump by itself?

Just did this DIY tonight and the **** worked...honestly cant believe something so simple and cost effective works. In my prep for this DIY I ordered some new O rings that arrived yesterday and while my navigation was telling me to go find a gas station I decided to try it....done in about 30 min not knowing if what I did worked because I didnt see much dirt or grime on the q tip...screwed everything back in and turned on the car and the gas gauge went to damn near a half a tank! Made me a believer real fast...I have never been able to go past a half a tank in my car which leads me to believe I was actually full but my gauge would tell me I was empty at 1\2 a tank...

You can order a fuel pump assembly for about $250 or less online and change it yourself...

WTF? is my little bobber in the gas tank not floating right ?
Belive it or not ... sometimes it can be actually a PCM issue. i've seen this a few times from working at the shop and some of the guys had the dealerships reflash their PCM's and that took care of the problem... its only worked for half of the guys i've known with the issue... it could be the sensor in the tank too tho ... but alot of diffrent cars do the same thing ... sometimes it takes a while or even the car being shut off to have the gauge read proper fuel measurements. My girly's Acura RSX Type S does it too.

I went to the Infiniti dealership in Ardmore, PA and they replaced the sending unit and 2 O-rings for $290 with taxes. It has been a week and everything is all good. they were trying to sale a whole new fuel pump too but even before I took it to them I had my Fuel pump looked at by another master tech and he said it was fine it just needed the sending unit.

I hope that helps
