2016 tires, they may need replaced before I take it to any serious events 👀!
Oh wow, yeah, they are age-toasted. So sad. But you don't want to be practicing your drifting skills when you are really wanting to be carving corners....
My car has started burning more and more
oil recently. I havent tried to get an actual measurement but I would say about 1.5 to 2
quarts about every 1000 miles. Been thinkin a lot lately about upgrading to something newer. 😏

Welcome to the club! Mine has been burning oil since somewhere around 50k miles. It was one quart per 2500 miles for a long time and then somewhere around 140k it got worse to about 1 quart per 1000 miles. I don’t drive her too much, so I really don’t care, but someday a new engine will be on the books.

I might try switching to a thicker oil next time to see if that helps. My car is my daily driver so I drive at least 60 miles a day. Other than the excessive oil usage, it is a pretty reliable car.
Minor bits and pieces finished. Got rid of a bunch of ugly and rusted looking brackets and made carbon ones from a few scraps and off-cuts of carbon fiber:
Before: 440 grams and looking ...rough thanks to the lovely Northeast weather
After: 75 grams and most importantly , no rust !
Flipped the oil cooler mounting by 90 degrees, had to add a new AN fitting. Much cleaner with the new brackets.
Added new power steering cooler. Fits great and it was super cheap in case any of you guys want to get rid of your old one:
Id love to see how you make this stuff, you should make a YouTube Channel!
im going to buy that PS cooler and figure out how to do oil cooling. Did you just use a sandwich plate?
I would love to share more about the process as it's rather fun for me, just the biggest challenge with videos is the lack of time to prep, edit, etc. Maybe if I just keep it super simple for now (go pro on the head and little to no editing). But yea, thanks for the idea.
As for the oil cooler, Z1 offers a basic kit that comes with a Mocal sandwich plate and the required hoses. I'd recommend doing that. Mine is exactly that except I modified one of the AN fittings and the brackets to get a different installation orientation.

I was eyeing a replacement option for my stocker. Glad to see this is easy drop in replacement with stock fans. I have some aftermarket fans so it should be a non-issue.

what fans do you have if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking for a slim solution. The koyo radiator fits perfectly with the stock fans, but I'd like to get back some space between the radiator fans and the engine block for...another idea. I've even considered retrofitting push fans in the front of the radiator/AC core assembly like in older BMWs, but that would take a bit more engineering vs just a slim fan assembly.
Finally got the G out of the shop, been so busy every weekend that I never bothered taking it down off jackstands and putting the final pieces of it back together from last February when I replaced the radiator. Washed, went for a drive to the grocery store, came home, took a picture.
Feels good to drive it again, need to find some time to pester Seymore and give it an UpRev tune since all my stuff has been sitting on a work bench in the shop since March.
I installed a Tomei 1.5 LSD and restacked the clutch plates so that the thing doesn't lock up like a welded diff (Tomei LSD has a reputation for being super aggressive).
First impression is that it still pops around tight turns even thought its stacked at only about 50% (6 contact surfaces on either side vs 12 per Tomei factory configuration). I will see how it does at the track later this week and possibly take it apart again to restack the clutch pack or try a different gear oil first.
