ooh lovely. I’m excited to hear how this works out for you. Are you going to consider running a diff oil cooler (no fans) now? Your diff cover may cool enough.
There was a Tomei 2 Way built diff that showed up locally that I missed out on. I’m still sad about that.
I just got a great deal on a Diff Brace and Z1 Diff cover on eBay, $180 SHIPPED!!! I was going to pull the diff anyways to do the poly mount upgrade, so the auction ended at the perfect time. Probably pretty important for longevity with an SC to run a diff cooling cover (as a cooler upgrade would be aggressive).

First impression is that it still pops around tight turns even thought its stacked at only about 50% (6 contact surfaces on either side vs 12 per Tomei factory configuration). I will see how it does at the track later this week and possibly take it apart again to restack the clutch pack or try a different gear oil first.

I have considered running the diff cooler, but no time to set one up or really test to see if I need it. If I overflow/boil fluid out of it later this week I think I'll have to get a cooler, but really hoping I can get away without one for now.
That's exactly it, if you aren't cooking your fluid then I wouldn't bother with a cooler. Get a little infrared thermometer and shoot the diff after you know you beat on it hard and see what the temp is at (shoot a few places on the diff). If you aren't seeing like 230F I wouldn't bother, it's just more parts to buy and needs maintenance. If you're hitting 250F then YES you need a diff cooler.
Unless you were doing a LOT of consecutive hot laps I doubt you'll be much hotter than 200F.
If you're puking fluid, regardless, you need a cooler.
Bring my auto G for some track day with my old man. First track day show up with just pads and dot4 lol. Really wish it was a 6 speed and its a bit heavy lol

Thanks for the tip, ill check the pumpkin temps next time. Unfortunately next time probably won't be for a few months. Despite a new radiator, updated ducting, and bleeding the cooling system multiple times I ran into overheating problems at the tracks. Temperatures kept creeping up. And then my fears were confirmed; my track buddy and I did a bleed in between sessions and found a few droplets of oil floating in the funnel....so yea, that's it; looks like my headgasket is shot and that's how I'm getting gasses in my coolant system. I either need to tear it down and replace the headgasket or honestly it looks like it's time to pull the trigger on a VHR swap. The current motor is high milleage and the valvetrain ticks way too much.
That being said despite the temperature going up the car ran well in terms of handling, the LSD behaved very nicely on track, and the rear end grip was much improved. I ended up clocking a 1:04 even with a motor that was down on power so overall a very nice day at lime rock park and I made it back home. Couldn't really ask for much more.
New all inclusive brakes and wheels. Rotors and pads from R1 Concepts, front Stop Tech calipers, rear Amazon calipers, rear only SS brake lines from Z1. New wheels from Tire Rack
May be more appropriate for the "look what I bought thread" than this one, but congrats. I've driven a couple and they're pretty neat. The only things that really bothered me were the lack of an instrument cluster behind the wheel on the Model 3, and that awful steering yoke and lack of a turn signal stalk on my cousin's Model S Plaid. The acceleration on that thing was unbelievable though.
Front and rear cameras, tire pressure for all four tires can display on screen, folding side view mir
I test drove a Model S three years ago. It had a turn signal stalk on the left side of the steering wheel. Perhaps they changed?
I'm still getting familiar as its not even two weeks since waiting 256 days since I ordered it in January. I love it!
im blown away the EV crowd was able to convert an MpG purist! Welcome to the EV Life. We have 2 at our place and they are great. 100+ mpg and fast, who’s complaining?
