Now, I don't think that they are literally stealing your money, but no you do not need to get your oil changed every 3k miles, synthetic or no synthetic. Of course the way you drive should greatly be taken into consideration the amount of miles between oil changes. If you drive your car hard with frequent red line trips and tire chirps, with a non-synthetic motor oil, I would get ready to change the oil at or around 5k miles, though frequently checking the oil every few days. As for synthetic, the same story, though you may find yourself still having clean(ish) looking oil after 6-7k miles. I would change my synthetic oil around 7500 miles.

Also I am not suggesting running any oil but synthetic in your car, but what I wrote about can be used for any car, really.

If you continue to keep going to Jiffy, or even if you bring your car to any shop, just tell the guy doing your oil change to write your preference on the little window sticker, weather its every 5k, 7.5k, etc.
Thanks for the advice, i really appreciate it. I'm definitely going to change it around 7500 miles because when i just got the car, man i drove it hard, but now, i keep it chill, all gear shifts under 3k rpms and just enjoying the luxury of this car

its ok to learn to do car maintenance so long u have someone actually there guiding u and giving u tips and showing wat to do and wat not to do( ie friend or relative). i wouldnt suggest u coming here and reading how to do things then trying it out on ur own with zero experience and no one there to watch u. thats how u end up getting hurt and breaking something...jus sayin.

I fail to see how a RECOMMENDATION to do something in the fture = stealing.

They did not lie and tell you that your perfectly good oil is infact bad. Nor did they NOT change your oil and just put a little sticker on your car.

Fact is many here will change out synthetics at 3k. There are a few threads where it's mentioned. Some just like fresh oil *shrug*.

Besides the sensationalistic subject line, in your instance Jiffy Lube is doing nothing wrong except for recommending something you don't agree with.

So don't change it at 3k. Change it either when it's dirty or the manufacturer's suggest life (which you shuold know since you paid for the oil).

If this is the biggest issue you have with the car (when to change the oil), grats to ya.

Pennzoil makes no claim about how long to run oil in your car, them telling you to change it at 3,000 mile is 100% correct. They are using the recommended service intervals provided by Infiniti.

Actually the manual says 3750 not 3000. My local Infiniti dealer stated 5000 miles.
