All depends on the kid... my first car was a 350hp 65 Mustang, the car was a handful, but I never had a problem with either accidents or tickets. This car is a bit pricey for a 16 year old though... I got my first car for like $6k.

my 1st car to learn how to drive in was 2001 honda Accord EXL V6, god damn i loved that car.. if he 16, i would reccomend accord I4 (not v6) cuz the new I4 have great pick up... also accord has 5 star rating and it looks classy

16 year old kids should be driving buckets if they are even lucky enough to have a car. if that kid gets a g i will break his ride and commit suicide. i had to go to a damn war to get enough money to barely buy a g.

**** you kid

it's not so much the power of the car compared to driving a rear wheel drive car. A lot of accidents I read about on here have to do with the back end skidding out, and not knowing how to control the car. I noticed you're from chicago.. leave it in the garage when it snows..

Wow, I learned on a '65 Rambler, inline 6, three on the tree. When my step kids boy and girl became of age, I insisted on getting big old cars. Both cars were about ten years old, they had to work to pay the insurance and do all the maintenance themselves (I helped). The boy had three speeding tickets in 2 months. The big "old" cars added to my piece of mind, all of their friends were driving better cars than I had, unreal. It is hard to image kids just assuming they should have nice cars or having mommy and daddy buying them nice "new" cars. The insurance will kill'em, get one ticket and watch the insurance explode.

Now if you are working and paying ALL the bills for your car, get it. As far as maturity goes, phhhh. Given this kind of car, you will get nuts, I do and I am over 50. Speed and mods, yeah. Boys never grow up when it comes to cars, I haven't and never will.

well to sum this up.. im 17 years old going on 18 in july.. i always thought yeah i can HANDLE it i can handle it.. and all this but the fact is not about being able to handle it really.. its being mature enough.. my first car was a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse GSX AWD Single turbo.. soo it was pretty quickk.. i got the car 1 week before i got my license i had been driving it in my neighborhood for a while.. the first day i got my car.. i went to park around a gas station median just a lil too fast and hit the front of the curb with my fiberglass bumper.. and messed it up.. a few days later.. im leaving school early.. i look in only one mirror.. and me being kool first time driving stick reverse and hit my buddy in a black 02 mustang.. i didnt learn my lesson that my car isnt a toy.. few weeks later i tried cutting corners with some friends and ebraked a lil and ran down the side of a road hit some bushes and messed up my bumper a bit more..

In my opinion, you need a first car.. to make stupid *** mistakes and be immature in. once u realize that you are really ready then you should get it.. i waited about a good 5 or 6 months.. after i got my G and i have grown up so much more.. within driving and reality. I have been more careful, more responsible, and less of an idiot trying to show off.. or get attention.. its just a stage every kid goes through.. and u cant say u dont do it, cause every person has a younger side to them.. and HAS done it, theres no denying it. IT high school waht do u expect.. woot and i graduate tommorow.. i cant wait. i expect presents...!!!!! jk hope u all read what i have to say.. later guys!

Sucks for you, some people are just lucky while others have to work harder dont be envious of his good fortune. I got my G at 17 . There are a lot of people who got there cars at 16 and are now 18 or 19 on these forums.

I think getting a older car as my first car was the greatest thing ever, because thats where I did all my stupid 16 year old **** in until I learned to be mature and respect my car and the road. Aslong as you can handle it your fine

I'm actually 19 years old, just bought an 05 G35 coupe with my own money.
Yes, it's my first car.

I've had my drivers license since 16, I received my motorcycle endorsement at 16 years old as well. I've been riding motorcycles since 16 ...

I currently own a 2006 GSX-R 600, which I bought brand-new in Late 05.

No accidents on car or bikes, planning to keep it that way.

What the hell is all that black crap on your front bumper? Did you install a flex capacitor and accidentally warp back to biblical times and lay down a whole swarm of locusts?
