Re: manumatic

when hopping on the highway I kick it in manual, and downshift a gear. It is nice to have the power ready at my hands.

Re: manumatic

I put the clutch in, shift into third and release, before I get on the freeway. =) jk. There are some threads about how to get it to work well if you search them.

Re: manumatic

What specific issue are you having with the manumatic mode? There is an issue shifting down from second to first. And you solve it by letting the car downshift for you when you are coming to a complete stop. It'll go from 3rd to 1st, instead of 3->2->1. I am not aware of any other issues.

Re: manumatic

I got an AT because the wife can't drive a manual....and I always use the manumatic. Maybe I should've bought a 6/MT and then she would never drive it!!! Pingo

Re: manumatic

Loren,
The lag might have something to do with the ECU reset. I am sure they don't reset the ECU on loaner cars, but you can do it on yours. My car (automatic) responds to shifts quickly.

Re: manumatic

If the service loaners are Sedans, which most are from what I've read, then the tranny will shift a little differently than the Coupe.
The Sedan's A/T selection sets the highest gear that it will shift to, without effecting a gear change. For example set the selector to '3' and the tranny shifts normally to 3 only. Also the dash selected # stays in '3'.
With the Coupe's A/T the shift that you make actually effects a shift to that gear you selected. Also the dash #'s go back to 1 as speed reduces to 0, making it necessary to upshift again.
A slight variation in function between the 2.
Hope this helps.

Zorro-

On my 2004, during the break in period my car used to shift from 3 to 1 all the time. But now it seems after teh break in, the car shifts really quick from 3-2-1 when slowin down to a stop. Not sure if thats an adjustment from a 2003 to a 2004.

Re: manumatic

The problem I am having is that it takes a while to shift into the next gear. I will press up to shift up and it takes a while and then finally shifts into gear. It just doesn't feel right..I was wondering if people had a technique such as let off the gas for a second..I have never been able to shift quickly into the next gear...it sounds like others may have the same problem?

Re: manumatic

I haven't found any lags in my shift points so far...the trans seems to hit the mark each time....maybe you should let the dealer check it next time you bring it in for service...I really only use the manual shifting when i can let the engine rev without having to let off the gas for traffic or police etc. etc.

Re: manumatic

Primags, please read my post above. You need to reset the ECU. There a special method to reset it without loosing your preset radio station, and there is an easy way. The easy way is to unplug your battery for about 12 hours (just leave it unplugged over night), and plug it back in. This will reset your ECU, and the car will start responding to your shifts quicker. Please make sure that you roll down the window before you unplug the battery. Otherwise, you might brake it. Good luck.

Re: manumatic

Zorro,
I'll try it, but can anyone explain why you would have to do that? And why would my window break if I didn't roll it down? Please explain for my curiosity.

Thx

Re: manumatic

I recommend you search this forum to get a detailed answer as to why the ECU needs to be reset. Basically, it has to do with the computer learning your style of driving. It's especially important to reset the ECU after your break-in period. Before you start driving aggresively, it's a good idea to reset the ECU.
As far as the window is concerned, you know how it rolls up and down when you open and close the door? Well, that's powered by your battery. And if your battery is unplugged, the window will not roll down, and you could potentially brake it when you close the door. I hope this helps.
