Sorry for dragging out an old thread, but did not want to read reply's saying use the search button. Within this thread it talks about 20 gallons being the capacity of the tank, is that at the click stage or top up? I seem to be getting only an average of 16.5mpg 70 city 30 hwy. I don't drive with a heavy foot, past that stage of my life I'm 38. Rarely go over 3000rpm. I tried and ECU reset a couple weeks back no luck, air filters new and 93oct gas. Car details below. I've even gone as far as driving when nav say's *** and gone below the E mark on the gas gauge, yet have never been able to get more than 18'5 gallons filling right to top up (extra 2 gallons after click). I know this is affecting my mpg as I divide miles by liters filled, but just curious. Also would driving in the city affect my gas mileage that drastically?

^^ sounds to me like and average MPG especially with that much city driving. I heave heard f just keeping a half of a tank and you will get better gass mileage.

I don't know much but city driving will affect your MPG by a lot so that's probably the reason. If you read most of the posts in here the people with the highest MPG's have more highway than city driving ratios so I guess that would explain it. Although, there are some lucky coupes out there that manage to crank out more averages than that.

I've only had my 04 for about a month, so the low fuel light has not had much of a chance to come on. That said, I filled her up a few days ago and I'm down to a half tank or so and I've gotten about 230 miles out of that half tank.

I do about 70% highway, 30% hitting lights.

Sweet Jesus. 230 miles on half a tank, I'm jealous. My driving is about 80% city 20% freeway. That said I get anywhere from 300 to 350 on a tank depending on how conservative I drive. That's the only thing I dislike about my car is I get a fraction of the dealer mpg estimates. The most I've ever got, being super conservative and mostly freeway was about 18mpg.

I got my G in August of '08 and get 400 - 420 per tank with a 70 - 30 hwy/city split. I cruise at 75 for the most part and do drive it hard in spurts.

Quote: 420!

If you're getting 420 miles to a tank, you drive like a granny.

If you're getting 180-220/tank, you're either heavily modded or shifting at 12,000RPM
I get 400-450 regularly with 70 highway 30 city also. No mods...and I drive that b!tch! Your gas light comes on when you still have 4 gallons left (just to remind you). I usually have about .5 to 1 gallon left in the tank when I go to fill up, and I average 23-25 mpg.

A few things to mention - I change oil every 5k (used to be with mobil1 but now amsoil), change the diff every 30k, tranny every 30-40k, BG fuel cleaning at least once a year, flush coolant once a year, check tire pressure probably ever other month, clean the TB probably every 18-24 months, etc. etc.

You're getting alot more than 430 to a tank...you still have 4 gallons left. You could easily get 500. It's like your driving an economical echo.

Brandon... be VERY careful when cleaning the TB. They are sensitive.
