what kind of coil overs are they? i got bc coils the bounce sounds just like how you explained it when damper is set at 1-4 to hard, so maybe its normal.. have you adjusted your spring rates? maybe it needs more time to settle in since its colder in NY?.. i let mine settle for 2 weeks half way soft before i went back to set my spring rates, get it realigned and stiffened my dampers....

 

Yea I have the BC's also. I ended up setting them 9 clicks from hard in the rear and the bounce isn't as bad now. I havent even messed with the front settings yet. I've only put maybe 100 miles on my coils. I guess its a combination of letting them settle and adjusting the dampness till you find a combination that you like.

 

Sounds like your heights are off-probably have to add to the shock height only because they are not dampening the springs enough.
You shouldn't get anything resembling bounce at that high a setting if the heights are matched correctly. That's the trouble with the rears being separate height adjustment for the springs and shocks-you may have to take some time tweaking them.

 

Still looking for a solid review on the Megan AWD Coils? Anybody?

Wondering if there are any disadvantages to these vs. BC?
Are they as easy to adjust?

 

So I just ordered a set of Tein Sedan S-Techs for my '05 X. Can't wait to install them.

I'll be running my OEM 350Z Touring 18s for the summer on 235/45/18 rubber. I spoke to Blain (4DGS) last night, and he said I shouldn't need a fender roll to run those.

My question is, will I be able to run my winter setup without rubbing (either on the inside or the fender edge)?

My winter setup is a set of OEM Maxima 18's on 225/45/18 rubbers.

I'm pretty sure the offsets are different, but I could be wrong.

If your winter tires are thinner/with same sidewall ratio and the summers work fine it should all depend on the offset-although if mm start to come into play the tread depth on the winters could matter but I doubt it.

Any X guys know a place in Chicago to get coils installed? Picked up Megan coils the other day but no means to install..... My dream is so close but yet so far............

 

Unfortunately, I think it's easiest to install the extenders at the same time as the COs themselves-on the V35 X (not sure if V36 is same) you can put the extenders on before sticking the shock through the wheel well (it tightens on with an allen key), and then you can guide the extender up through the back by sticking your hand through on the side/top of the rear seat where it meets the interior side trim. You don't have to take anything inside the car apart.

I can see it working if you want to go the other way putting the extender through the seat onto the already installed shock but it would probably be next to impossible to get the allen bolt tightened securely.

I just bought some g35 sedan H-tech Springs for my g35x based on some stuff I read here. I was planning on putting these on for the summer and switching them back in the winter. Does it make sense to swap the springs seasonally? Is there anything else I should take into consideration, like wheel alignment? I remember reading somewhere that since the H-tech is a mild drop that this should not be a problem.

 

Depending on how much snow you get in your area, you probably don't need to switch them out for winter. Considering how slight of a drop the H-techs give, you won't be very far off from stock height.

Anytime you do suspension work, you should be doing an alignment as well, just to keep everything in spec.

its pretty simple to do the extenders if you install them at the same time as the coils...put them in as one peice, but basically:

1- remove rear seat bottom, pulling on the two white tabs under the middle part of each seat
2- unscrew the bottom part of the seat backs, you should now be able to slide them up and out, you will understand how they go back in when you see the back of them it just hooks on
3- you should now be able to see the sealed off part where the shock housing is... if you want to install without lifting up the car, you will need to drill probably about a 2" hole PERFECTLY in the center...(im not sure how safe this large hole would be due to the 2 built in bolts nearby it but you should be fine). BE VERY CAREFUL when drilling the hole not to let the drill go too deep once it cuts through or else it will harm your shock adjustment ****! i am not sure how much clearance you have between them so either be careful when you do it or just lift the car up and do it.
4- once you have the **** in sight you can now put the extender on and thanks to the large hole you just drilled you should be able to fit the allen wrench in and tighten that **** up
5- when i put my seats back in i left the side of the seats that the extenders are on i left unhooked to give the xtenda some clearance so you can turn it freely... youll understand when you see it

i hear htech? but do they mean coupe or sedan. ? also does anyone have pics of an htech drop on a sedan?
