I thought I was within the 3% that's what I've read on this forumOriginally Posted by MPG35fiend

what's the wheel specs? Staggered?
If they are 19x9 all around then those tires won't work... I don't know how your friend did it but there are ppl with x's that get away with it some how but I'm sure it will affect the diffs over time..
I personally wouldn't take that chance..
I'm sure fellow x drivers will tune in... That sucks that you are having that issue.

New daily picked up yesterday! Looking forward to getting some work underway.

Anyone has Z/G combo they want to unload, PLEASE let me know. This height is killing me.

Good combo... But if you have the extra scratch go with the bc coils. Best thing to do IMO.

Thanks! This is the daily, my S4 is the slammed fun car.
I'll still want this car to do okay during the winters here.

You do realize that a Square setup or a 19x9 alll around HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH the AWD system. We all can run staggered rim widths, its the TIRE SIZE that matters. Originally Posted by MPG35fiend

How will it affect our diffs over time? Many of us have ran stagger wheels and TIRES for a good amount of miles and NOTHING is wrong. R32/33/34 all have similiar AWD systems and COME staggered wheels and tires.
I run 235/45/18 and 265/40/18 with NO PROBLEMS. I forget the 19 tire combo. i think its a 225/xx and 255 out back.
The best bet is to get the same size tires and call it a day. No headaches, no lights, no damage. Plus you can rotate them if you dont have staggered wheels ( extend treadlife).
I haven't seen someone blow up/damage there AWD system yet. When your AWD link blinks, it disables the AWD to prevent any damage from happening. If you want to go staggered wheels, then get RWD.
The 3% is most likely the difference on a RWD to not upset the VDC.

So I'm pretty much all set with my current set up of 225/40r19 an 245/40r19Originally Posted by TurTLe*

.
If he's 19x9 all around with 225 and 245 won't work.... So it does matter.
Thanks for clarifying though... I really appreciate it.
I forgot I'm still a noob.

Agreed that it will not work. Originally Posted by MPG35fiend

What i'm saying is your focus on 19x9 or any width of the wheel does not matter. Its all about the rolling diameter of the TIRE. Its been a beaten down topic, the guys who run staggered wheels (yourself and I included) know what needs to be done, because it doesn't happen on accident. I learned my first time when i tried 235/40 and 265/40, but did some calcuations and found 235/45 is right on the money with 265/40 and stock tire sizing.
P-town, on the hand doesn't want to listen, so what can we do...

It's not that I don't want to listen I'm getting conflicting advice I see guys with staggered setups and running fine my friend is one of those but I have more experienced users telling me otherwise I have no problem switching tires just wanna make sure Im not wasting moneyOriginally Posted by TurTLe*

Yes. Turtle and I both agree that if you are running the same size wheel all around you should use the same size tires all around.Originally Posted by P_TownG-Rider51

Safest way to go. If you're running staggered then that's a different story.
Good luck!!
