compression rod replacement on '05's?
took the car in today and complained about creaking noise in the front end, when going over bumps and/or backing out of driveways. mentioned that a bunch of folks have had the compression rods replaced, based on some of the posts here, to solve this problem.
dealer is claiming it is not an '05 issue with the compression rods. only the '03 and '04 models. any one have their rods replaced on an '05 yet? if so, how many miles did you have on the car? i have 22,000 miles on mine.
thanks

Keep in mind, however, that just because I had bad compression rods, it doesn't mean you have bad ones. It is just a place for them to look - sort of a hint to help them nail the problem quicker. I think if you point this out to them that they may be more willing to help diagonse the problem correctly - just don't go in there with the attitude that they should fix exactly what you tell them - at least in my experience that's what I've learned.

Louisdarke - So what are you saying....they won't fix the car, period? (you have 22K miles & are still under warranty obviously). As bythabay said, it could be something else, but worth them obviosly looking into.
I had the same creaking problem as you (I have an '04) and took mine in & mentioned compression rods just as you did....they did hear the creaking & knew I was telling the truth & replaced the compression rods. Got the car back & the problem wasn't fixed....it was some other part (control arm/rod??) and they replaced that when I brought the car back...problem solved.
Good luck & hope they find the cause! Talk to the service manager if you have any issues...that may help you.

thanks for the replies.
i simply mentioned the groaning noise/squeaking up front, and asked them to look at the compression rods, as i had seen a few posts about that causing the issue.
i was told it was a fix for older models that pulled to the right. they claim the front end is fine, and it is normal chassis flex.
personally, i have been happy with the service i have received on both of my G's until this. i don't think it is normal for it to make this sound on a car with so few miles. i also have been fighting balancing issues with tires up front forever. 3 different sets/brands and always an issue. the tires are balanced for a while and then they go out of balance......and then they get balanced and so on ......
i saw in a post that the compression rod replacement seemed to have fixed a similar issue for another G owner. i guess i am going to have to make a future appointment for this noise again and ask them to look further.
maybe i will take these posts from other '05 owners to show them.........

Here's a post talking about the compression rod creak. https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/72740-suspension-creeks-low-speeds-source.html.
It lists the part #s that were replaced, etc. By the way, my creak has come back.
There's another TSB to fix the body flex problem for older models. Try to have them look at the compression rods. Here's the TSB for the other creak fix: http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB02-060.htm so you can go in to the dealership well-informed.
For one thing, whether they want to fix it or not, have them write it up. We need to get enough documentation and hopefully Infiniti will come out with an official TSB. As for me, I'm going to see if I have them look at it again when I go in for my next oil change.
Another tip, have the service tech drive the car. They're more aware of car noises, etc when they're driving. When I went in the first time, I drove for about 10-15 minutes and he couldnt' hear it. He drove it for 1 minute before he heard it.

yeah. the heat is brutal lately. not quite 101 degrees, but 98 is close enough!
granted the noise is usually only for a few minutes when the car is cold, but it still is annoying to hear. and i am not sure what negative effect it has on the car other than the noise. will something else be affected if these parts are in need of replacing?
the dealer also noticed my tires were feathering on the outside of the front tires, and said it was because of lack of rotation. i rotate them every 6-7k miles!
