there is still air moving through the system, just not as much,

and beside, i've always understood drone to be the resonant tone produced when, say, cruising at highway speeds, or in the case of my last car, sounding like a cow (literally) when accelerating gently. it's basically what happens when you rely on resonance for your exhaust tone. it's a monotonous sound, much like a prop plane going overhead.

than you lower the car - start it up and and figure that you either forgot a gasket or a bolt and you must do the whole process over.

i had an exhaust leak the other week and was contemplated lifting the car - removing the stripped bolt and applying exhaust gasket

instead - I went to an exhaust shop - car was placed on the lift for 5 minutes...bolt removed, gasket installed ===6 bux

DONE...and i did that all with slacks and a white collar shirt
LOLOLOL, so let me get this straight......you don't like exhaust work?

I just got it and there is the slightest bit of drone at times, but not that bad though. I'm guessing it's less of a problem w/ 6mt's.

Very interesting, I might have to make a minor change to my new setup. Is it any louder or just different?

hehe, if I do it probably wont do it for a while, unless I find one soon, cheap and close by. I'm still recovering from some costly & very recent modding. If I do I will keep u in mind tho. You might want to send me a PM so I have ur user name handy.

Hey, you guys won't believe this ****. I think I just set the record for a dealership trying to punk a customer. I took the G35 into Nissan today to get the oil changed (it’s closer to my house and cheaper...plus buy 5 get 1 free). While I had it there I was going to have them swap out the midpipe for the coupe midpipe I got last week. When I dropped it off they said they would have to call me with the quote for swapping the midpipe out. I was expecting 1/2 hr shop charge at worst, maybe $40-50, right? Well I get a call and the service cashier tells me the quote is......get this.......$162!!! HOLY F*CK!!!! I was like no way, are you serious!? She said yes. I said don't touch it then.

When I went back to pick up the car, I asked to speak with the service advisor that came up with this ungodly quote. When he came over, I asked him "What exactly were you planning on doing for $162!?" I informed him that this was a straight swap, only 4 bolts needed to be undone, and it would take a competent technician all of about 10 minutes to do. The advisor couldn’t come up with an answer, just said “that’s the standard charge to replace an exhaust.” So I told him I was taking it to Exhaust Works (local shop that does good work) where it would cost me $40. So tomorrow I’m taking it to the other shop to get it done. I just couldn’t believe that quote!! Wow, and I though Infiniti was bad.

^^ What's wrong with $40? That seems reasonable.

LOL, yes, $40 is reasonable, and that's why I went to the place that charged me $40 instead of $162. BTW, got it swapped this morning and it sounds sweet! A little louder at 1500 rpm, but nothing that would drive me nuts. A good mod!!
