Everything I see says they have the same wheel base, thus same drive shaft length.

Never heard either the G or Z had carbon fiber driveshafts before and I highly doubt it.

 

^really... how much longer are sedans that coupes? From t-case to drive shaft? I'm going to speculate a bit and argue that the difference isn't much, perhaps even non-existent.

Z definitely has CF - coupe does not (as far as I know)... and coupe shaft is not shorter (as far as I know)...

Z is lighter than both the sedan and coupe. IMHO, that's where the performance differences are.

 

My 03 sedan weighs less than the 06 Z from numbers I saw a while ago. Not by much though, around 50lbs if I remember right.

Z Uses a C/F driveshaft? Why don't we see more threads about people swapping driveshafts? Especially in the automatic models, as you would gain back some of the pathetic drivetrain loss our slushbox has.

350Z Wheelbase = 2,649 mm (104.3 in)
G35 Wheelbase = 2,850 mm (112.2 in)

Since they have the same engine/tranny, the driveshaft has to be shorter in the Z.

5ATs only give up 10whp/10wtq to the 6MT. It's not the significant, especially from 0 to 100mph.
