It's simple physics. Like how racing slicks with less tread perform better than street tires with less tire to road contact area. Go ahead and give it a test yourself.

Can't argue the stronger calipers being more effective but that is an expensive mod not everyone is ready to purchase. An increased rotor size improves braking by increasing surface per rotation of the wheel, lowering overall braking distance.

One more thing - not all drilled rotors are bad. Problem is the good ones are expensive, and get lost in the selection of poorly drilled rotors that cost just as much.

Are you looking to start with the appearance or under the hood?

 

Before you jump on the mod wagon make sure that new sedan is in perfect condition. Do you have service records from the previous owner? Consider yourself lucky, you have one of the best shops right there in the SFV. CarZone 7745 Sepulveda blvd. Van Nuys 818-373-1330 If you need anything done their crew is the best! Traction off a lot, they can hook you up with new tires too!

Motordyne spacer, and a good exhaust would be the best start. You can get an intake too, but keep in mind it's mostly for noise. Could get headers, HFCs/test pipes as well and of course a good tune.

 

As others have said here, do all the maintenance stuff first, make sure your bushing, tie rod ends, bearings are up to snuff. Then do all the fluids, ALL the fluids. Change the hoses, and any belts. It's also time for new plugs, air filter and cabin filter.

As for mods, IMHO the best bang for the buck mod is sway bars. Hotchkis makes a great set of adjustable sway bars for this car. Made a world of difference in my car. Then I added Tokico dspec adjustable shocks and lowered it about an inch. You can do all that for a little over a grand. Don't mess with cold air intakes, if you must change the intake, go with a z-tube and a rev-up (2005-6) air box. I have had several intakes and I wish I had never changed mine. You can add a plenum spacer and an exhaust later, to get a few more HP. These motors are tweaked a lot from the factory, there is not a lot of HP to be had without gong forced induction.

 

If you want performance, then set up your suspension and turning parts with some good struts/shocks like the Tokico D-Specs and springs for the 350Z (yes, suspension for a Z on your G sedan is a great combo), sway bars, adjustable tie rods (tightens the turning angle), and chassis reinforcement. Don't ever forget to include some good tires.While these mods don't increase power output, these mods will put whatever power you do have to better use.

As for power - The headers are a pain to swap out and do nothing, intakes do nothing good but introduce heatsoak in warm weather, cams are expensive and don't do a whole lot by themselves, and the MREV and spacer combo will barely make a few hp on your motor. IMHO, just forget everything and get boost and tune.

If you have a manual, get a good clutch to help transfer the power better. A good short shifter will not only make your car more fun to drive, it can also help you improve your driving, helping you make the most of what you have. If you have an auto, get yourself a TransGo shift kit. A higher final drive will help increase acceleration as well.

I'm looking to change stock headlamps for something else. One has a cracked lens and like the look of black due to my car's color. Any suggestions to start with? Then exhaust after that. '04 sedan g35

 

spec d tuning projectors look great imo
Also ill be starting modding my 06 g35x so far just a k&n drop in and muffler delete. in the market for a ztube then plenum spacer. once those are done itll all be appearance from there lowering front lip and who knows what else.
