$1,100.00 for 30,000 Miles Maintenance?
The dealership is telling me that our car is up for it's 30,000 miles maintenance (48000 kms here in Canada). It's going to be $1,100. That seems crazy expensive to me.
Is that normal pricing? Do I need to do it? Maybe I could just do some of it? Maybe it could be done by a shop other than the dealership?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

one would be what is included.
two is that nissan will do it for less, if you want a dealership to do it.
three, obviously other people can do the work for a LOT less or you can DIY like a small amount of us people.
I've done 90% of my maintence i can give you a ball park for fluid/parts cost.
Obviously you need a small amount of tools and a floor jack.
Oil change, 5qt jug at walmart $20-30 and oil filter about $5-10.
Cabin air filter, $10 filter
air filter $10-15
Rear diff flush. 2 or 3 bottles of mobil 1 syn 75w90. $10-15 a bottle. all you really need a hand pump for this.
ATF change (if auto) 4-6 qts of matic -J fluid $10-15 bottle at dealership. Nothing speical just a oil change in a diffrent area.
if you have an AWD i would do the front diff. same as rear diff. and wait for 50-60k to do the transfer case.
The reast of the work is just inspections and upsell and etc. I think 30k is too soon for a brake flush but you can opt to do that. 30k is way too soon for coolant. And you really dont ever need to do power steering.
I think i named about $100 worth of fluid and filters and you will need about $100-150 worth of tools, you can do everything yourself in the course of a weekend if you slow and want to take the time but 2 hours is what it would take me.

I'm not really a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to cars. Computers, no problem, but other than topping up the windshield washer fluid, I never get under the hood of the car.

This is completely over the top. You can get the tires rotated anywhere for $15-20. The cabin filter is expensive, but you can do it yourself with the video on this site or have them do it for that price. WTF is "brake service"? If you need to have the brake fluid drained and refilled OK, but usually you shouldn't need to have that done at 30K. And you either need pads or you don't. WTF is fuel saver service and battery service? You can get a new battery for $70-100. I wouldn't let them "desludge" my engine. You may want to get the transmission flush done at the dealer but anyone can flush your coolant for less.

Ummmmm, YES it is overcharged. DO NOT PAY ANYONE $124 to rotate your tires, for the love of god. Most of what they have listed there is not necessary, and then they are also not including things that are necessary. Oil change, differential change, engine/cabin filter changes is really all you need. If you have an auto then transmission flush is probably a good idea too. Coolant and brake fluids are probably not necessary but if you really want to be proactive you can have them done. Check your owners manual and use your own judgment.
If the brake service entails a brake fluid change, then $100 is ok, but I dont think you even need to do that at 30K. If it doesnt include changing the fluid, then all they are doing is "inspecting" them for $100, which is NOT worth it. Same with the battery maint, they are probably doing nothing but inspecting, if your battery is working fine then just leave it alone, they dont need service. $20 for fuel saver service isn't expensive, but they are not doing anything so just save your $20. And $108 for shop charges? What's that all about?
Use your own judgment on the 4 wheel alignment, if you dont feel the car drifting by itself or eating your tires then no need to mess with it.

Also when the time comes shop around for tires and brakes, some dealers are a rip-off (not all). I CRINGE when I'm at the dealer and listen as people get called to the service reps desk and quoted $800 for brake pads and listen as they actually say "go ahead and do it".

I hate telling people to DIY as well. Not everyone's skill level is the same. For me, rebuilding a transmission is an easy job. A brake job is a trivial job and oil changes are just something i do when i want to get away from the g/f for an 1/2 an hour.
So shop around and take the advice here on what you should get done now and what you can hold off on without ill effects.

Seriously, all those fluid changes are quite easy if you want to spend some time on it. I don't feel secure with jack stands so I use two 2x10 wood panels stacked on top of each other. I did all the fluids myself (oil, coolant, front / rear differential and transfer). My next step is to tackle brakes but after seeing a video of rear brake installation...I don't think I am ready for it yet.
I almost fainted when I saw "Rotate Tires: $123.94". I rotate my tires when the weather gets warmer. Takes about half an hour and it's FREE.
If you can open a case and install a graphic card then you can install cabin filter. You know how to use a philips right? Then you can do it. Part is $13 bucks for me.
Battery Service probably means add distilled water (.79 cents at Walmart).

Overall tho, my 30K premium service, inclusive of a change in the timing belt, was <$450 and at 60K I'm told it's around $500-600.
Essentially, I think you're being taken for a ride as others have suggested.

This is why people should not go to dealerships, they always want your money. I own a Ford Ranger that I drive to work, and had to put it in the shop for a recall notice. I wasn't there 10 min. and got call to the service desk and was told that the mechanic found some issues with the drive belt. I told the service guy that I had replace the belt 2 months ago myself. He just gave me a dumb look. They make no money for recalls so they try hard to find something wrong. I agree with everyone here try to do the work yourself.
