Pics related.
That's why I'm confused because the bumper looks as to fit with no gaps.

^ def. not a Nissan factory product, and not 03 because it would have little grooves in front of the turn signal. I would guess it was bought on ebay as a blacked out housing headlight.

This was my first thought as well. It doesn't look promising as you mentioned that they're burned but it's worth a shot since headlight restoration kits are usually around $20.

can someone help me answer this question? I have an 03 sedan with the doggie door on the trunk; my question is can i replace this trunk with newer oem sedan trunk (maybe 04,05,06)? Maybe its worth my time just to get an aftermarket trunk?

^Yes. Trunks are fully interchangeable.

Note, that without the doggy door, you're limited to your keyfob for opening the trunk.
You could, in theory, route the wires up to the dash somewhere and install a button if you wanted to. It'll be pretty obvious when you switch to the decklid without the handle that there's an extra pair of wires that used to go to the button in the handle.

Below are my thoughts as well:

Looks like an Ebay 03/04 headlight that was installed in the 05/06. From the pics you cannot tell for sure either way, about fitment or the headlight because it's aftermarket.

03/04 is cheaper, even in the knock-off form, and from the look of that grill, etc, cheap is the route this guy went with the car

Thought all 03.5 and 04's were this way though, we don't have a button on the exterior, just the key fab. And the trunk release button inside the cabin. The only mechanical over-ride is the pull handle inside the trunk, that can be reached through the ski-pass with some dinking around.

That being the case, deleting the doggy-door is in effect just the same as a normal 03.5/04 set up. Unless i"m missing something

Good to know that it can be interchangeable, however you did raise a good point about relying on the keyfob to open the trunk. This could be problematic one day if i do decide to change it hrmmm

And there is the difference

03.0 doesn't have a button in-cabin. Just the handle on the trunk and the button on the remote.

KingD, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's plenty easy to use your keyfob, as you keep it on your person most of the time anyway.
And if you're worried about locking yourself out of the trunk, there are actually two manual overrides.
1) the glow-in-the-dark handle near the back
2) small black pull tab that will be very close to the pass-thru door when the trunk is shut. It's Velcro'd to the center/forward-edge of the decklid

Problem/solution!

Thanks NFSP for clearing that up.
I suppose that makes sense for them NOT to have the in-cabin switch if there's a handle on the back.

This is awesome to know, for some reason I have a problem with the look of the trunk. I rather have the newer trunk for a clean smooth look (in my opinion anyways)
