If oil is disappearing try a PCV catch can. It wont stop it from going away but will keep it out of the combustion chamber and will run better. I couldnt believe how responsive mine was after installing one. (on other vehicles as well)

I dont understand how several people talk about getting less than 4 quarts drained from the engine. Thats means you've been driving around with low oil level, check it once a week and keep it full!

Is the engine actually burning the oil? Is it getting past valve seals, piston rings, ect.? Or is it evaporating and the vapors going out the pcv? When I first got my G I immediately put Amsoil 0W-30 in it. I was shocked when I was down a quart after 2000 miles. I now use Amsoil 5W-30 and add half as much as before. When I checked the specs on Amsoil's web site I found that the 5W-30 was less volitile. This makes me wonder it there is a hot spot aound cylinders 5&6. My wife's '05 Max has basicly the same engine turned sideways and uses 0 oil in 5000 miles.
So, does the oil flow to the back of the engine under excelleration? Only to be vaporized?

Is the light a low oil pressure light? Or does it also record low oil level?

Some cars only do one, while some do both. What does the g35 monitor?

its a low pressure light, and for it to illuminate due to lack of oil, it means you are VERY low on oil.
