Strafe and Baus Auto both sell the HD trunk from ITZ/Carbodykits.....just to clarify..Our trunks we try to keep exclusive , we do authorize the release to a few other companies. Sir trunks and hoods are the hardest items to get to OEM fitment. Each car is different in some aspect.

Sorry Blue Dream but EVERY and I do say Every Authentic and Replica aftermarket company has a "Fitment" disclaimer for a reason.. Strafe does not make any parts..We sell all parts Authentic and Replica. Where do you think we got the disclaimers. That is the reason we advise as do the others to use a good shop and not skimp on prep or paint..Grilles are a bit different, then again there are some poor fitting grilles that were made years ago.....

Funny how we get singled out everytime by a certain few. There are a few Vendors on here that sell body kits. Except for a few exclusive products, we all offer quite a few of the same parts. Strafe tries to offer the mixture of Authentic or Replica.

Just Saying Blue Dream no need to just single Out Strafe. Is that fair? Nope! As far as this thread I actually tried to avoid Drama....

.OP I hope you find what you are looking for and just remember the PM's you might get aren't just based on facts. Curious to see if you post those PMs up for the Public to see...

Dustin will be around to help you..

I actually did consider molding in some other areas, but it's not possible to make the paint scheme work unless everything its body color... also considered having a line etched in to flow with the rest of the gaps, but body shop was concerned about cutting all the way through (not knowing how thick or thin the lens plastic is).

I ended up having a black line painted across the top to mimic an actual gap (after the photo was taken)... one of these days I'm going to go for the recessed/etched line (if it goes too deep, start over I guess).

From a distance it's not even noticeable - so really, only in close up photos and at meets or shows is it even an issue... but it is something that initially bothered me a bit too. I still also need to address the darkness (that's a whole other situation that has reasons, but I've gone too long with this post already)

Now back to As the Strafe World Turns
LOLZ. Yeah that sounds good man again, the originality is huge and I love it. Glad to hear you're trying different ideas. Though I'm not sure I understand why you cant just fill in the crease/gap around the rest of the tailight and reverse light. Don't really see how this changes the colour scheme as you'd ONLY be filling the gap on the bottom of the main tailight, and then the gap around the reverse light as well. Granted, this would take fresh moulding and paint all over again, but I think it'd seal things up on that back end

cool things we do around here, glad to be with some like minded original folks here on Driver

Thanks for your thoughts on this, this is exactly the first hand experience I need.
In your opinion, can these gaps be adjusted out professionally via latch/mounting adjustment? Or is is just an inperfect mould?

I agree about the aftermarket part comment, while MOST aftermarket parts aren't the best fitment wise, they certainly can be. For the prices Strafe is selling these trunks for right now though, it's not unfair. For $600 or more, it should fit perfect though IMO.

If you're backing your product saying there's no quality or fitment issues in a PM to me in an effort to get my money, then when someone questions it, backing out and saying "oh well no body part is perfect, this is the best ours is", that's just false advertising and shady buisiness. I'm not trying to start drama anywhere, you're doing quite the job of that yourself without anyone else. I'm simply calling it as I see it, and posting exact quotes of what YOU said. Nothing there is "unfair", not one bit.

Simply because you got all worked up about it, I removed the PMs that I had posted here for clarification.
I am really trying my best to keep my personal opinions on how this has been handled to myself, and trying to be ammicable through this. But your comments slandering me about posting PM's like I'm trying to destroy your business or like I'm a horrible person are not appreciated, especially when I've removed said PM's even though I personally believe there was NOTHING wrong with posting them. A business man should never say anything in PM or Email that he isn't prepared to have publicly posted, that's just basic business sense.

I do hope you will at some point be able to drop this whole "PM" thing, and actually get down to the brass tax about the product, which is really the only info any of us wants......

lol Law, paranoid much? If you re-read my post you'll notice I never mentioned Strafe so why the attack on me? No one "singled you out" here so please relax.

Also to be fair, I did mention that I wasn't trying to create drama, yet it was you who brought that to the table. I'll refrain from posting in this thread again so back OT.

OP can't wait to see what you end up doing.

The airflow discussion was pretty funny.

I like what the OP did to the orgiinal spoilier. Sort of made it more like the wide coupe spolier.

This thread is still going because I might be making a custom spoiler due to the lack of good trunk lid options.

The modded spoiler is sitting in my basement. I decided I didn't like it as much as I'd like a Moulded lip like the HD trunk.

Anyone know of any review threads or pic threads for the HD trunk specifically? Doesn't seem to be much.

i clicked this thread to see a nice project then i get to the final pages and wth?

anyhow, i just skimmed it... op i pm'd you back btw.. sorry about response i've been away

the trunk on our website is named k2 *from our supplier, thats what they call it* so we name products per the name some suppliers do. So we dont have mixups on our end when ordering.

strafespeed is strafespeed. we have 3 versions: doggy door w/spoiler, no doggy door w/spoiler, and "bird bath" style w/no spoiler.

The k2 is not a strafe trunk. If you wanna get techincal the "k2" trunk on our site was sold by a company who called themselves "hikkata dori" that used to advertise here on the forums.

any further questions members can pm me directly. Op wish you best of luck continuing this project.

regards

Kind thanks Dustin. Man law threw us for a loop on that one. PM replied.

Glad to finally have some confimation, I'm sure it will help many others out in the future as well, though I think reading what Law posted will just confuse everyone more LOLZ

Thanks again Dustin. Hope to have some updates in the near future!

Dustin should make a spoiler that has more flare and more aggresive than the M3 lip for us that don't wanna replace the whole trunk lid. Kinda like the lexus IS350 spoiler

I actually just mentioned that in PM to him. If the HD trunk is still selling even though everyone knows it's crap quality, then there must be demand, so why not make it in good quality so it gets even more sales and happy customers?

I'm hunting for a Lip right now to use in a mould, need to chat with some body shops and get quotes. Between cost of lip and body work I may be better just getting a chinsy HD trunk and reinforcing/fixing it up prior to install.

You can mold like an M3 type of spoiler like Marcus (CandlestickPark) for cheaper than the aftermarket trunk.
