While that may be the case, somehow Apple and every other company that makes an MP3 player allow it. It seems to me that this responsibility lies with the content providers not the hardware providers, and this is why purchased music is copy protected.

They supposedly use the port to update the navi, so it's not an OS limitation issue.
It's just not cfg'd in the firmware.

Yeah, maybe there will be some sort of hack, or secret access menu to allow this. Pretty dumb restriction, but I'm sure they caved into pressure from RIAA, etc, to avoid any copyright issues. Which is sad, because why should they restrict what I want to do with music in MY car.
