Quote: Forget what everone says negative about the SOW....this is the best system PERIOD
I actually really liked the sound of the SOW to start with, but now that I have gotten used to it I like it even more. I personally feel that Bose and Infiniti did a great job.

I agree Christian, the more I listen, the more I like.
Shane got me into Flamenco music and guitar. It is awesome on the SOW.
I picked up a double cd called Narada V2, it is mostly contempary flamenco, it sounds so good in the car .

Glad to hear you are liking the Flamenco guitar Wayne. Like you said, it sounds AMAZING on the SOW. Bring that Narada CD with you to QC and I'll rip it to my harddrive.

In a nutshell, it is Spanish guitar. If you search on Jesse Cook, Otmar Liebert, Oscar Lopez, Arturo Fuerte.....you'll get the idea.

Here is the double CD I just purchased that I was talking about. It has a few of the people on it that Shane mentioned. Check the link, it lets you play a few samples.

Flamenco Guitar is awesome, I haven't listened to any in the G yet but I will definitely need to dig some out of my cd case at home and try it out. I imaginge it will be very well reproduced by the SOW. Jesse Cook is a great artist.

I have the Mark Levinson in the GX which I think is an awesome system. I think SOW comes pretty close to it.

Not only has driving this car made me feel more mature (and bling bling), but so has the SOW. I had a custom audio system in my last car. While it was good, this SOW is much richer by FAR. When I first heard it during my test drive, I thought the SOW was a POS. I only measured the sound by the deepest of the bass and the clarity at a high volume. What I didn't realize was just how full the sound was. It really breathes new life into all of my old audio CDs, which I've burned onto the hard drive. I feel like I have a new collection of music. MP3s (on CD and on the Compact Flash) aren't too shabby, either. I'm now very used to not having loud, deep bass, because the quality of the sound more than makes up for it. One night I had the windows down, car turned off, and some music playing. Even from outside the car, you can hear the difference between it and every other stock HU (even Bose ones).

G35 Studio on Wheels - I Really Like It!!
Quote: For those of you who are lucky to own the 2007 G35 Sedan, what are your impressions of the "Studio on Wheels" sound system that is included with the premium package? I know many of us who own the 2003-2006 upgraded their sound systems due to the horrible Bose system. I am hoping to purchase a 2007 G35 Sedan and hope the "Studio on Wheels" is up to par without having to spend any additional money on upgrading.

Thanks.

Dave
I recently purchased my 2007 G35S having traded in my 2004 Acura TL. Specifically, with regard to the Bose "Studio on Wheels" I must say that the sound is quite impressive. The highs are crisp, the bass is solid (just right), and the wattage output is more than adequate (at least for me). Keep in mind this is an OEM system that is included in the Premium Package with other 'toys' all for $2,500.

When compared to the ELS Surround System in the TL, which played both CD's and DVD-Audio discs, I would say that the ELS system and the SOW in the G are relatively equal. Keep in mind that it appears that Infiniti and Acura have two different schools of thought regarding the ideal automotive sound system. So depending on your preference, either system will be more than satisfactory.

Obviously, the surround capability of the ELS System was a definite plus - in fact the effect was pretty amazing. But there were some drawbacks:

- The system would only play DVD-Audio Discs or CD's. Note that the CD's were played in the standard 2-channel stereo mode - not in Surround Sound. The system was not compatible with HDCD, Super Audio CD, or the sound tracks from a DVD Video disk;

- The Wattage of the ELS System was on the low side, especially since it was driving 5 channels rather than 2. To listen to a DVD-Audio disc at a comfortable listening level, the volume would have to be 18 (out of 40) at a minimum;

- DVD-Audio Disks are hard to find, as they are not that popular (they are far from being a standard). I could only find one internet vendor - DVD Empire - that offered a complete selection. Also, there are only about 300 titles across all genres of music. New releases on DVD-Audio are meager, at best;

- Lastly, it did not play MP3's (I believe that changed in 2006).

Given all of the sound options in the 2007 G35 - Satellite Radio, CD's, MP3's, and the Music Box - you will be more than satisfied with this system. However, if you are a true audiophile, you will be looking for "something more" no matter what vehicle you choose.

Regards,

Greg S
