I've had my 07 6MT for a week now and am not that impressed with the SOW, but only because there are no adjustments other than treble and bass. Even the simplest 3-channel equalizer would have been good, or preset "styles" that represent different equalizer settings. It's definitely an improvement over the Bose system that was in my 03.5 6MT, but having some kind of adjustment besides treble and bass would have made it so much better for me.

Hmmm... I didn't hear any Rammstein, Megadeath, etc on that CD. Originally Posted by G-Whizzer

Maybe that's why the bass sounds weak to me. The people that designed
it, designed it for music like the stuff on that demo CD.
Still looking for a bass boost button... maybe they'll wise up next year and address the single biggest issue that most people have with the SOW -
not enough bottom end.

Just upgrade the factory rear subwoofer and add an amp just for the sub, bingo. Has anybody done this yet?

Yeah, I'd have to agree - the musical nuances of Megadeath are lost on this system... LOL.
You'll need to upgrade, bro.

Now there's an idea, but where's a good place to stash the amp?Originally Posted by jerminator

If you have the Premium package, I say you take out the trunk's CD changer and stash the amp in there, provided the amp is small enough, and you drill some vent holes so the heat can escape.Originally Posted by rwalterk

I don't even use the radio. I drive around singing to myself. I'm trying out for American Idol next year.

I agree. I listen to everything but rap and modern country. I listen to alot of older folk country, alternative, punk, industrial, heavy metal, modern folk, classical and with everything I pretty much leave the stereo flat and it's beautiful sounding at least in front. I question the imaging in the rear because of the lack of speakers, but I don't sit in the back so I don't care Originally Posted by treacherous

I listen to megadeth, metallica, rammstein and **** like that all the time, and the bass is perfect. The thing is, most people who listen to music are just used to big booming bass and crank the bass up. I want accurate music. I want to hear the guitars, the vocals, everything and the bass. I don't want the bass overwhelming everything else which is what alot of people seem to think is the norm for music.

I was going to give this car sound system a pass until I heard the sound on my colleague's 03 or 04 G35 Coupe's factory installed sound system. Guess what. CDs sounded flat out better on his sound system compared to my SOW. The bass just sucks on ours. There is little oomph on the sound.
The only thing that it does impressively is midrange stuff when turned up real loud has no distortion, but who cares about that? I dont need to go deaf trying to impress myself with the strong point by turning it up.
Oh, also I got Sirius. They need to get rid of 10-20 music stations and improve the damn sound quality on the channels.

Hey, if Paris Hilton and William Hung can put out a record
then why not you?Back on topic: I had a chance to listen to the SOW recently. I put an MP3 with some Pink Floyd songs. Whoa...talk about lively. For those that have the song PF "Comfortably Numb", listen to that song through the SOW and experience it for yourself.

Both the original pink floyd version of comfortably numb and dar williams version are amazing in the SOW system.
The Great Gig in the sky off of dark side of the moon is another good piece to listen with the SOW system as are any number of performances of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. I found the range in the Berliner Philharmoniker performance conducted by Ozawa to be pretty damn impressive with this system. Only OEM car stereo I've heard better for this has been the martin levinson system found in the various lexus cars.

I disagree about the SOW being worse than 03 Coupe. My last car was the 03 G35 Coupe with premium (Bose audio). I never really like that Bose. I improved it somewhat by replacing the tweeters in the doors with Infinity tweeters, but it still wasn't great. Overall, the bass was weak in the 03 Coupe (better in 03 sedan) and there wasn't real clarity throughout.Originally Posted by mantar

One of the reasons I got my 2007 sedan was the SOW. It was so much better than what I had in my 2003 Coupe. The highs are very clear and there is good, tight bass in the SOW. I'm not looking for the bass to cause an earthquake. When I was test-driving the 2007, I used the same CDs for back to back comparison of my 2003 Coupe Bose with the 2007 SOW and the SOW just blew my 2003 Coupe Bose away.

^^^ +1. I've never even sat into a pre-07 sedan before, but I got a brand new '06 loaner fully loaded. I'm glad they didn't give me an '07 loaner. Driving the '06 made me appreciate my '07 even more. A great car, but it was no where near as refined as my '07. The BOSE was pathetic. I'm not usually a big fan of BOSE anything in cars, but surprisingly, the SOW is very rich and satisfying. The bass is not deep, but deep enough to get a good song bumping.Originally Posted by G35MD
