Bottom line is that if the 09 G35 Sedan ships with the new engine, it will drastically affect sales of the 08. You and I both know that. Either he doesn't know or he's just repeating the corporate line, but bottom line is that we don't know for sure that it won't fit, other from what he said...

He said in his first message that the 3.7 was too tall for the new sedan, (which already has a noticable bulge in the hood). That should be clear enough even for you.
I will believe the information when Nissan or other reputable sources confirm the potential G37 sedan. I'm pretty confident Infiniti will introduce the VQ37 into upcoming sedans because that's their bread and butter car and HP sells. They have had their sites set on BMW's 3 series since the G's introduction and they're not short change the G sedan when trying to go up against the twin turbo 335i sedan. My guess is the G37 sedan will become somewhat of a high performance model of the G with a slightly lowered suspension, some mild body work, and 19" rims.

Ok, i spoke with my neighbor yesterday who is an engineer at Nissan. He is pretty high up and regularly (once a month) flies to Japan.
He says the 3.7 can fit in the new sedan no problem.
Also confirmed this with my wife's little brother who is *also* an engineer in Nissan.
So that's what two Nissan engineers told me, for what its worth.
Thanks for providing pictures, great find.
Based upon what I'm seeing, I'm glad I got the sedan. Not in love with the coupe at all compared to the BMW 335.

Not sure why everyone is so up in arms about the 3.7 going into the Sedan . As with electronics ... newer model cars will always benefit from upgrades and for most of us, it will be impossible to keep up with the latest. What ever facts or rumors you hear about this topic will just be true for today.
Just enjoy what you have now (or get a short term lease ).

FIY: VQ35HR & VQ37HR - external dimension is exactly the same. The difference is only the stroke length. (81.4mm --> 86mm) to add the additional 200ml of displacement.
Not doubting your credibility at all, the picture says it all. One thing I've learned over my years is that manufacturers would never use the word "NEVER" because they will manufacture whatever sells.
Thanks for the heads up, real world pictures of the G37 is very nice. (doesn't really change my impression of it though)
