Noisey when air conditoning is on and music off.

With the recent hot (and smokey) weather in CA, I've had to use my A/C and keep the windows closed. When I switch on the A/C I hear a whining noise coming from either the engine compartment or under the dash. When I leave the fan on without the A/C button pushed the fan is quiet.

Should it be so noisey with the A/C engaged? Seems rather loud for a luxury car. Everything works OK with the climate control. Should I bother to take it in? Is everyone's G35 like this?

Thanks,
Bruce

Hmmmm...drove my car the other day with A/C on and no music, and don't recall any whining noise.

I recently noticed mine was making a louder noise than i expected, haven't had a chance to really check into it. Maybe its normal for our cars?

Yeah me too. Only when AC is on. Very disappointed in this. My TL was by far better in the fit and finish category

slight churning when AC is on. This is normal in many cars. Turn AC off and it is gone. Often times this is caused by the fans on the radiator kicking on to cool properly for the AC. When you turn the AC they turn off as well.

Yes, with the a/c on, the car is much louder. I guess Nissan's a/c systems are louder than Honda.

NEWS FLASH!! I took my car in for its 7500 mile service today, and they gave me an '07 G with only 300 miles as a loaner.

In my '07 G, after driving with the a/c on for about 15 min., it would start making a loud noise (like from the compressor), and when I would accelerate, a loud whining noise would come about. It was so annoying that I would drive with the a/c off and only air.

Well, after driving the loaner, I realized how quiet the a/c was on this car, so asked Austin Infiniti to look at my a/c unit. They called back saying that they were going to replace my compressor.

So don't settle for a loud and noisy a/c unit! Get it fixed! Nissan a/c units are not worse than others!

Glad to hear it. By the way, I just ordered my G35 from Austin Infiniti. I really liked their sales staff and was able to negotiate a good deal without all of the usual hassle. How is their service department?

Congrats man! Austin Infiniti's service dept is superb. I've been to Acura service depts in Miami, Atlanta, and Austin, and I feel that Austin Infiniti's is the best so far. Nick is really good.
