Plus, for those who wear rings, you dont have to worry about scratching the plastaluminum!
Are you sure that's plastic Jason? When I tap that with my fingernail, it sure sounds metallic. I know the aluminum can scratch just as easy as plastic.

I would definitely buy one if there was a way to LOWER the shifter. But to just switch it to the M isn't enough for me to justify spending 100 bucks.

You are doing an amazing job Jason. It is wonderful to have a knowledgeable resource like you we can all bug from day to day...... You are all ACES in my book!

Thank you I appreciate the compliment! Its what I love to do (and love to have time to do...)

Its really only $92.50 after shipping

And it is possible to lower the ****, just some modification to the assembly will be needed...

After looking more closely at the shift **** I am looking at ways of modifying the plastic on the ****...

Inside the **** there are two plastic runners that go down into the ****... If we were to dremmel them so they are not as long, the **** will slide down lower... Then we would need to modify the shaft adapter (white plastic part) to be shorter and maintain the same shape as the un-cut piece...

I have a Shaft Adapter (white plastic piece) coming in, It should be here Monday... I will experiment with modifying the Shaft Adapter as well as the Shift **** before I start cutting up a metal shaft assembly in the shifter its self...

Give me till middle of next week to do some playing around with it

IF it were to work I will offer a modified version for sale... The shaft adapter will add another $20 to the cost of the ****, plus what I figure the modification will cost for myself to do... But I will post how to do it if one was to try on their own...

Nice work Jason,

I was also interested in cutting the shaft, but i was unsure of how far down to cut the notches and that groove on the backside of the shaft. Any specs on the M shaft? Also i was wondering how far down the white plastic piece goes into the metal shaft? I was concerned about some spring assembly possibly being exposed if i cut the metal shaft too low. Also how hard is it to remove the metal shaft and white plastic assembly from the car in order to cut it?

Thanks!

After thinking about it more during the day, its going to be a pain to cut the metal shaft... I think we will be able to get it lower by modifying the **** its self...

I am going to try modifying one next week by cutting the white plastic part (which pulls rite off) and the inside of the shift **** its self...

yea, after looking at it again, cutting the white plastic part would only gain you about 1 inch. I was looking at gaining at least 1.5-2inches off and possibly using the existing ****. I would be more inclined to cut the metal rod under the white plastic and modifying the metal shaft instead to preserve the plastic curvature. Were you refering to modifying the M **** or the G ****?

to modding the M **** is what I was referring to.

As far as cutting the metal shaft, you would most likely want to remove the auto shifter assembly from the car.

Would basicly want to cut everything lower.

how easy was it to cut the notch for the M ****? would I want a hack saw, or is the metal relatively soft?

Turned out great! I put the M **** on and used a steak knife of all things to mark where the pin would go. I then took it off and sawed my *** off with the steak knife. I cut two notches. I had to go over them a few times to get them wide enough to accept the pin. Once I did I slipped the M **** on, put the pin in, and clipped the boot to the ****. On real snug. One thing to watch out for is try not to speerate the boot from the little plastic ring that clips to the bottom of the ****-pain in the *** to get back on.

Here are a few pics. Matches my S seats perfectly. Last pic is one of it in drive so you can see what that looks like.

Damn, that does look nice. Now I gotta decide if it's worth the ~100 bucks to do this myself
