I wonder how hard it would be to take the boot apart and get it stitched to match...

What would it take to take the shaft out and modify it to lower the M ****? Is the shaft a part than can be purchased seperately?

I think that you need to cut down that white plastic piece... at the very least. And probably cut down the silver plastic piece too, since my guess is that the **** will just "hit" the silver piece if it sits lower and you don't cut it.

Then again, I've been reading this wrong all along, so take that with a grain of salt.

I think the problem is if you cut it down will that affect the button operation?

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking that you need to cut them both down, so that it sits at the same height, relatively speaking, but lower overall.

Jason, do you know if there are other colors of the ****? For instance I have Stone interior so the stitching around my wheel isn't as white as the graphite interior's stiching???

well even at the same height the M **** looks better, more luxury. I think the fake chrome piece on the G **** looks like ***.

Not to mention that piece gets cold/hot like a **** depending on the interior of the car.

I'll reach out to put the car in gear in the morning, and it's ridiculous...

Mine is coming out as soon as I get this, but I'm really liking the way it sits on the M. And I think reverse stitching would look awesome too.

I know there was a company out there that made custom boots for the Maximas... I wonder if they make them for the G.

The Shifter Shaft is not available on its own...

Basicly, all the metal parts you see will have to be trimmed cut down if you want it to sit lower...

in this image, you will have to make the shaft on the RIGHT look like the one on the LEFT...

If you can not see the differance between the right and left side, then I would not attempt it yourself...

NOTE: This is only if you want it to sit lower!

Actually they both look like you chewed on them -- at least the white piece.

I was thinking that you could cut down from the bottom on the silver piece... and then make the notch, and it would work?

And btw, the ring on the M boot looks much nicer than the ring on the G boot, IMO.

Jason,

Thanks for the detailed information. VERY helpful. If I were to cut down the metal shaft, how would I go about modifying the white inner shaft so that it sits lower inside the shortened metal shaft?

Also, can you get the 06-07 sport M45 **** w/o the stitching? I have a G35journey and having stitching only on the **** would look out of place IMO since my seats and steering wheel has black stitching.

Thanks again for your help.

The White looks like that because of the lubricant that is on it... Its like a jelly...

There is a bit of a difference in the ring on the M boot... but looking at the boot as it came new, its going to be a bit of work to get it to work on the G... I dont think the fit and finish would be as nice once the M boot is modified to fit the G.
