Hit a curb....

Wow, old thread. You guys should really get some driving experience under your belt with RWD cars. The G is one of the easiest I've found to drive in a controlled slide. If you want to test out the capabilities relatively safely, I highly recommend trying it out at an autocross event. I've done a few in the G and with VDC off, all you have to do to keep the car controlled is counter steer and feather the throttle. If you want to break loose, you can mash it but as soon as you break the traction, feather the throttle to keep the rear in check. If you keep it mashed, you will lose control. If you start to get a little too aggressive of an angle, hit the brakes lightly. Even with VDC off, if you tap the brakes, it turns itself back on momentarily to help straighten you out.
Slamming on the brakes mid rotation will only make things worse BTW. Tap. It's all about right foot control.

Ouch man. I did the same thing once coming around a corner that was wet from the sprinklers. The whole rear end kicked out....i countersteered and was able to save the side of the car and wound up sliding into the curb and hitting the front passenger side bumper at the bottom. Scuffed it up pretty nicely but thank god i didnt hit the front wheel. Needless to say i will never do that again haha

And no, that's not what happened to me, I had a different driver error

If the back end is coming out unexpectedly you are either one:
not smooth with steering wheel
2)coming in to turn to shallow and and over correcting
3)have tires that are not sticky enough
4)if it isn't in manual matic mode then you may upshift going in to turn and then when you power out the transmission downshifts two gears for you and then boom, there you spin, pick your gear before entering turn.
It is a fairly neutral car.
