High Flow Cats: Crawford or Helix
High Flow Cats: Crawford or Helix
I'm now split between 2 types of highflow cats... Helix or Crawford. Which is better? The Helix I saw was slightly cheaper then the crawford.
Any input is much appreciated!

I went with the kinetix. to be honest I cant remember why I chose them over the crawfords, I think they were cheaper. Anyway, I have been very happy with them. they sound great with no raspiness. Installed the same time as my crawford plenum, and I could feel a slight gain.
I dont think the test pipes have the fittiment issue, but thats a different animal. The cats however do. From what I've heard you have to take a hammer to your floorboard/firewall and do a little pounding to make the cats fit. I am currently trying to decide between Crawfords and Helix. I know they are similiar in performance results but does anyone know which would sound louder.

i've got crawford cats for 3000 miles now... no issues, ever.
rasp is that hollowish, tinny sound that you hear when a honda civic with a fart can drives by. when inside the car, it sounds like a paint can when you shake it up really fast and that agitator hits the side walls of the can. that's about as untechnical as i can get... sorry...

i'd get the Helix because of their build quality. their fitment is with the heat shield that you can easily fix. the kinetix are cheaper than crawford's, but have had issues with them blowing out after a couple of months. the crawford's are my 2nd choice if it ever came down to it.
I've been using the Crawford Cats for about six months now and loving them, no problems at all. I really, don't know too much about the Helix so I can't comment about their products. Just a thought, does both companies offer the same warranty?
My definition of RASP:
I somewhat "hollowed out" sound........similar to a Mustang GT. Not as aggressive sounding, but their are similar traits.
I don't necessarily mind a little rasp. Just not too much.

My Crawfords have been on for over 12K miles with no issues. A Great Hi-Flow Cat.

I first had the RT cats with my Stillen dual exhaust...some rasp
RT's went bad
gutted the RT's...more rasp
put on helix resonated test pipes...less rasp
put on crawford cats....no rasp...but more back preasure= less power
The Helix cats look more like RT cats on the inside...So I would think they flow better than the Crawfords. I would like to see a comparo on the 2 for flow
