You can absolutely clear the vdc off and slip lights yourself if you have a scan tool. Had the same problem when I replaced my clockspring. I have the Hyper Tough 200, which I purchased from Walmart for about $50 two years ago. All I have to do is go into services, steering, and select the option to reset steering angle sensor and follow those instructions.
