well the inevitable finally happened...

over 18 months and 16K miles into having my 05X, i finally got into my first accident. it's a shame really considering how much i baby the car. my bumper is all scratched up, dented, and part of the headlight paint is scratched up and the lines around the headlight are also bent and sidemarkers are cracked. Here's the best part - it happened while the car was parked - this is after i paid 75 bucks for a wax job yesterday.

here's my questions:

1. the car is a lease - it has full insurance - should i claim insurance on this and if i do - will my premium go up - or is it better to handle this without involving insurance?

2. what is a great bodyshop to go to anywhere in NY? i am a stickler for perfection and i don't want to be able to tell that anything even happened to the car. Quality over price for me. Little things bother me. OCD.

3. Is it hard to color match the car? (it's a twlight blue)

i guess with all the effort i spend into keeping the car looking mint, something's GOING to happen - it's like - the best way to fall asleep is to try to stay awake.

Thanks!

He lives in NY. If he lives/works in the city, it ain't worth driving. Plus you don't have to drive far to do stuff in NYC. That might be why. But damn, that's low mileage.

Got any pics of the car (before/after)?

Your insurance should not go up. You will have to pay your deductible, but the insurance should cover it. You should file a police report. Don't be afraid to call your insurance and ask about it...they aren't your enemy. My insurance agent is awesome.

Cool

I feel your pain. My car has been hit 3 times and I haven't even been in it while it happened...and NO ONE left a note. Bastards!

Anyway, I would evaluate the damage, see how much it is going to cost you. Yes, your insurance may go up, but you would have to ask them. Depending on what your deductible is too...there are a lot of factors, so just research what would be the best.

That suxs.
Get a quote from a body shop for non insured quote, and an insured quote, and call your insurance company to find out how much increase your premium will be based on the insured quote amount.
wow, you only put 16k miles on your car? mine's got over 23k already, and i bought it in mid 05.
