I take it we're talking about the same button, it is left of the vdc/ boot switch and has a wing mirror picture on it.

Thats strange, my old 2003 auto/tip didnt have it even though it was a premium model. Also i can't work out why my media system is different in the new car to most, it looks like a factory fitted one ??

^ Tom...just read a thread about 350GT's and some guy from Australia chimed in about this 350GT Navi and getting English buttons, etc. Gave him this link and said if he wanted to help, chime in here. Gave your SN to him and his SN is: Waz350GT. Just trying to help you out on your dilemma. Hope he chimes in and can help.......
Here's what he said on other thread:

We all have a serious bit of kit in the car that we are reluctant to chuck out, some one out there must be able to hack this at reasonable cost ???
I pay £130 quid for a 910 Tom Tom,why are we being quoted nearly 2k to get our in house system up and running ????
The first UK dealer to offer a solution is going to get loads of work !!!
This is sooo close to my heart. TOTALLY AGREE!

For the last year I have been investigating 2 types of replacement. First a drop in replacement for the house Sat Nav and secondly a replacement of the entertainment system ( CD + radio + steering controls ).

I am appalled by the lack of choice for both.
For the SAT Nav to TV conversion This is the only choice I know of:
http://www.soarer.tv/Skyline/

Cartronics will install a AVIC D3bti for 2K but this unit is almost 5 years old!
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/campaign...cd3SatNav.html

There is a new model released. The AVIC F900BT
http://www.pioneer.fr/eur/flash/prod...f900.html.html
But yet to get a in car / studio test of this. concerned by this video as my main source of music will be my iphone/pod.

Kenwood Also do a unit with a garmin nav inside http://www.kenwood.eu/products/car/m...ers/DNX5220BT/
But this does not have take input from gyro sensor so useless in tunnels or were GPS fails

All the in car systems I have seen are pants really. Touch screen technology has advanced so much in the last 10 years but the best in car solutions still still use old clumbersome technology. Any Tom Tom on the market has far better UI than any in car DIM solution and let me not start about how good the iphone/touch interface is.

I would get a Tom Tom if they did integrated unit as I love the UI and detail of the maps but... They also make you look like a cabbie.

Both TomTom and iphone are under £500 so why the heck are these DIM units cost £700+ and why are installers then asking for another £1300 to install it.. **** take if you ask me!

Would love to know if anyone has found a better deal or if anyone knows of better products than the ones I have not highlighted.

Would love it if we could get a group discount!

Must be on the wrong board ????????????

Cartronics charging 1300 quid to fit a sat nav system, they quote 6 hours fitting time, thats £216.66 an hour, even BMW would beat that !!!
Come on dealers if you want to make some money quote a sensible group buy !!!
Must admit getting used to my Tom Tom,also tried a Garmin but its to intrusive keeps telling me I am over the speed limit, even when I am not, keeps telling me when I enter a speed camera area, even though speed cameras are not there, may be its me being new to it,as my mate really rates it .
Tom wish I could help with your buttons ,I have one to and it dont do anything ????

I bought the DNX5220BT and I'm very happy with it.
Satnav works a treat and once I downloaded a POI file it alerts me to revenue cameras. I have never had any issues finding the satellites and come on, how lost can you get in a tunnel?!
Ipod connectictivity, once you have the right lead, is excellent. All your playlists etc on the touch screen, and it plays videos from the ipod. I had the leads for the ipod run up into the compartment meant for the stock satnav so I just plug in the ipod and drop it in.
Once I paired my phone it picks it up as soon as the unit switches on and updates the phonebook on the unit from the phone. Voice dialing, one touch dialing...its all perfect

Yeah its a pricy unit but it does eveything I wanted, and does it very very well. You can also buy a freeview tuner and rearview camera.

Oh and Halfords fitted mine for free. Not a bad deal considering whats involved it fitting it...but if anyone uses the one at silverlink in Newcastle I didn't send you! Paul the fitter hates my car with a passion since he discovered he had to remove the whole underneath of the dash

It uses witchcraft to steal the music from your 'walkman' and makes Terry Wogan play it through your radio

Having Nissan in the North East works well for some people....

Hi Wicked_Jester ( would like to meet your alias late night on a dark street without batman around ).

I've actually tried the Kenwood DNX8220BT. The thing I like about the Kenwoods is the sat Nav display. It really is heads and shoulders above the Apline and Pioneer. But like I said it does not track wheel movement and that really matters in London were a combo of tall buildings and metres between turns can have you turning 4 roads to late simply because the system could only lock onto 1 or 2 sats.

I also thought the start up was a bit slow but hey I'm a geek .

Do you have any pictures of your install?

I didn't even know you could get systems like that but living up in Northumberland it's not an issue. The startup is slightly slow but the ipod and satnav have normally kicked in by the time I've pulled away. The only time it is really slow is when playing MP3's off a DVD but most systems take a while to read the disk due to the size.

This is how it looks in the car

Oh ukgt....the muppet that installed this system at Halfords didn't leave the usb connector within reach so I had to remove the panels under the steering wheel. When I went to refit them I noticed a connector hanging loose...my door mirrors now tilt when in reverse. Its a bit off putting mind if your watching a car/wall/small child in the passenger mirror, put it into reserve and they suddenly vanish

It didn't have the stock unit when I got it, it had a panasonic face plate and pop out and up motorised screen, all fitted where the double din unit is now. The lid was already on and it appears that there was never a satnav system fitted in there. Worked out a treat for the ipod though
