Will this void the Infiniti warranty by the way? The writeup isnt exactly 100% clear on that.

Most newbies and several females have been able to do the installs quite easily, though it may take a bit longer for those not used to wrenching on their cars. Average time for the underhood wires is 45 minutes, but the record time is 15 minutes! Hyper-Ground, even girls can do it! The ECU/TCU wire require removal of a few panels, and that you get behind the glove-box. It can be done on a separate day, and usually takes about 45 minutes.
Various new car dealerships sell GroundingGear™ and install the Systems in their Service Departments, and tell me that it's warranty safe due to it's nature. In fact, one dealership sells several of his MazdaSpeed Miatas in the new car showroom with GroundingGear® Equipped being one of the selling features!

heeb,
I talked with my Infiniti service manager and he said it wouldn't void the warranty in any way, but you might want to check with yours. I am probably the least mechanically inclined guy that I know and I installed the kit in about 30 min. not to mention Gord provides very specific instructions with the kit. Best and least expesive mod to date period.

8 Wire 6MT Kit Installed
Well I finally installed my Gordgee Grounding Kit and must say I was very impressed the minute I opened the box. I was expecting a made at home, throw it all together half hazardly type of kit. I couldn't be more wrong! Everything was professionally packaged, the instructions were top notch and they look awesome! I first installed the first 7 wires and immediately noticed a much smoother idle. I drove around for a few days with just those 7 wires and was happy that it smoothed out my idle which has been rougher since the Crawford Plenum install. I didn't notice any difference performance wise, but with the marginal gains that can be attributed to grounding gear, I doubt anyone could "feel" the differnece.
I finally got around to installing the ECU wire which I put off fearing it would be a PITA. Turns out it was pretty simple. If you can use a phillips head, you can install it no sweat! Again the instructions were perfect. I would reco anyone with a 6MT to go for the 8 wire kit as opposed to the 6 because the car felt immediately better after the ECU wire was installed. I can't really explain it, but it felt nice. The closest I could come to explaining it would be the difference between mediocre gas vs. using good quality gas. Everyone has had, at some point in time, gotten a bad tank of gas. Car def feels much better!
Nice kit Gordon!

Thanks Pasta! Lest someone think that GroundingGear™ will change their G into a 735i! (Although a few say that their cars are now as smooth revving! Right Sixfive?)
Sorry to leave you hanging for a month and a half there Gord! I guess somewhere in the past I've compared my 10 wire grounding geared car to a 7 series LOL. Wonder where that thread is? I still can't believe the MASTER hyperground thread is gone...I bet it's in there!

I think your comment to me was something like: "Thanks for bringing me closer to BMW-like performance" or something to that effect.
S.F. from Raleigh, NC said: "Thanks for the help on getting me closer to 280hp in the sedan…car was much smoother overall…The car is more BMW like in smoothness.”
BTW, the H-G Monster Thread that started it all is still in the FAQ section

Ok, let me add my review to the list for the 10 wire 5AT kit + filter.
Review of GroundingGear 10 wire 5AT kit:
Shipping and Packaging: 8 out of 10 - simple, no frills, but well packed, all parts secure. No usable tracking # for shipment, 7 day ship time from Canada to NC.
Documentation: 7 out of 10 - well-written but more pics, in color, would have been a welcome addition. Having close up pictures and/or diagrams of each and every ground point would have saved time wondering if you've got the right spot (wire #7 in particular).
Build Quality: 10 out of 10 - really superb, solid stuff, no question about it. Wire ties included, longer bolts where necessary included.
Performance: 10 out of 10 - no horsepower increase felt or expected. No change in idle rpms. No change felt in start up. However the driveability of the car has improved significantly. I must admit I don't understand how this could be - but the perception is very real. I thought the car was smooth running before, but there is significant improvement after installation! It really is difficult to describe, but I felt like I was driving a Benz or a Lexus - and not a "rough" sports car. I suppose the biggest quantifiable change is that the 5AT shift lag in MM mode is gone. The display shifts instantly when you tap the stick. Double down shifting is completely reliable now. You can shift much closer to redline without hitting the rev limiter. This has made MM mode a real pleasure to use - VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
Here is probably an unwanted side effect though that I have not seen mentioned anywhere. I notice that while in "D" mode at WOT, the shifts occur sooner - around 6100 rpms instead of 6400 rpms where they used to. I presume this is because the lag is gone? Can anyone in a stock 5AT without GGear confirm that at WOT, the car shifts at 6400 or 6500 rpms? Mine definitely now shifts at 6100. Good thing MM mode works better so you can take it to 6300 and shift, which incurs the shift safely around 6500 to 6600. My rev limiter kicks in at 6700 I believe (and boy is that embarrasing).
EDIT: I noticed after a few more days of paying close attention to shift points that the shift point rpms vary a bit - particularly if you're slightly off from WOT. Now I notice shifting appropriate at 6400-6500 rpms. So maybe the above observation is invalid - or the computer has relearned the appropriate shift points after awhile??? Anyway, I don't think it's a significant issue.
CONCLUSION: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! (at least for all 5AT owners)
-----
Review of Grounding Gear air filter replacement:
Shipping and Packaging: 8 out of 10 - simple, no frills, but well packed, all parts secure. No usable tracking # for shipment, 7 day ship time from Canada to NC.
Documentation: 7 out of 10 - well-written but I did not know what the rubber strips were for (presumably to compensate for variation in filter sizes) or if they were required - no mention of them or what side of the filter they go on. I put on the back & front as the size matched up better. Again, a simple diagram would have been nice. Also, the instructions instruct how to "deodorize" the venting system but I killed my battery in the process - didn't realize the blower used up that much juice (on for less than 10 mins) and next am would not start.
Build quality: 10 out of 10 - more pleats, charcoal filter, HEPA quality - what more could you ask for at this price?
Performance: 9 out of 10 - no dust in cabin, odors gone though outside smells do sometimes come through though they are subdued. Maybe two charcoal filters (above and below) would work better?
CONCLUSION: RECOMMENDED (high quality, inexpensive replacement for stock filter. If you've had your car for more than a year, then your air filter will require changing - mine was very dirty after 11 mos of ownership).
-------
And finally, my thanks to Gord for providing a really hq product at such a reasonable price point.

Thanks for the feedback.
Drivability, and throttle response improvement seems to be fairly consistent in both the 5AT and the 6MT, with the 5AT getting the added benefit of improved shifting.
Instruction detail was written to provide a balance so that it would not be over-detailed and confusing for the majority of installers (yes, it's happened!). I'm available (usually the same day) to answer any questions and provide specific detailed pics and instruction as needed by e-mail, which I've found more effective and personalizes the support for the product. Even the dealership techs that do the installs sometimes take advantage of this.
Re the HEPA filter, as per the instructions (above picture #2):
(Note: Use optional seal as desired to ensure an even tighter fit, being careful not to warp the GroundingGear™ HEPA Filter)
The filter fits very snugly as is in most airboxes (especially compared to OEM) and there is little to no variance in filter size, however I thought that some may want to have an especially tight seal, and I've included this as an option for this purpose. I've been told by others that they use the seals for other purposes including insulating other components or even to eliminate rattles in other areas of the car.
I currently have a double layer of Carbon on the filter in my vehicle. I was also wondering if it would make much difference in some odours. So far, it looks like it's not worthwhile, as the single layer seems to work as effectively, and without the slight reduction in airflow that the double layer shows.
Again, thank-you for the feedback.

I was holding my breath on this install...I know from experience the importance of grounding, especially with aftermarket electronics (like Digital MSD systems and components) but I wasn't sure on the need or benefit on a brand new car.
I am happy to say that with all but the ECU wires installed I am already convinced on the merit of this system. I deliberately installed everything but the Transmission and ECU wires first to gauge the benefit and at that point was decidely on the fence. I could had BS'd myself either way. Yesterday I installed the transmission wire while I had the car in the air doing my chin spoiler and was AMAZED at the improvement in manual mode. Shifts are much quicker and I am no longer shifting then wondering when the car will decide to agree with me. Ok its not a valve body swap but that single improvement was worth the price of admission.
Easy install, relatively inexpensive and well worth it. I did spend a little time trying to hide most of the wires and will probably revisit it will a few inches of loom to try to hide the rest.
Definately an A+

ordering
Gordon,
Could you email me your information on how I can order from you your 10-wire kit. Two weeks ago I just took delivery on my 2005 5AT Coupe. From reading all the feedback I'm anxious to get a set on my car as well.
thanks in advance

Of course the Systems haven't been tried on the '06 yet, but since the engine configuration will remain basically the same, it should still work. So far, it's worked well on all the VQ engines in the various Nissan cars and trucks, even the longitudinal FWD ones like the Altima/Maxima.
We've done some pretty extensive testing on a variety of different vehicles and engines including VW, Mazdas, Honda, Subaru, Audi, BMW, etc, etc. and 4, 6, 8, and even 10 cylinder engines plus the rotary Wankels, and the results were very consistent for smoothness, and throttle response. The least difference was noted on the Triton V-10, but the the smoothness was very noticeable, and there was still a slight, but noticeable improvement in shifting, and the guy who swears he knows his truck inside-out, noticed it pull better out of corners when locked into a certain gear. With other cars, the differences have been significant.

Okay, like Gordon needs any more positive comments.....
Like others I was impressed with the quality of this product! Very nicely done!
(I wish you hadn't put the yellow 'GroundGear' sleeves on though..
)
Anyway, like others I believe it is hard to describe the effect of this mod.
I guess I would say the car feels more 'integrated'. All the pieces seem to play
more seamlessly together. Does that make sense?
It isn't that the car feels more powerful, it just pulls more smoothly. Step off
throttle response is crisper.. those sorts of things.
I am very happy with this mod! It is such a small investment, and I believe it is a great place to start!
I work with embedded hardware and totally understand the
role proper grounding plays in helping to control signal integrity.
Thanks again Gordon. Now, how about a kit for my 4Runner?
