did everyone else have their dipstick sealed up during testing? They have put some sort of sticky sealer tape over dipstick so I cannot check the oil myself..last 1000 mile test I was 3/4 of the way down dipstick at 700 miles..I feel like I should be able to keep an eye on it..oh well. This better be the last hoop I have to jump through, otherwise Im going to be pissed.

Whats to stop us from draining some oil out of our cars before each check just to make sure we get the new engine. Im at 50k miles on my 05 and I cant get readings off my dipstick when I get my oil changed every 3.5k, yet infiniti still says that I dont burn enough.

Other than a feeling of guilt whats to stop me from making sure I fail the test?

Edit- Mark, no they didn't seal my dipstick when I went through the tests a little over a year ago. They may be doing it now, but I havent gotten around to doing the test again.

I'm scheduled to go in for my first test at Riverside Infiniti this saturday. I'm crossing my fingers hoping they don't try and pull some stunts.

Well, We had a new motor due to the consumption and the new one is burning oil. This is just silly!

It makes me wonder if we got the original motor back in the car..

I just got back from Riverside Infiniti.
They did an oil and filter change because there was no record of maintenance done at a dealership. They said they wanted to establish a base for the oil consumption test.
I'll be going back there in 1000 miles for further testing.
I'll continue to update.

Timed out of warranty just took 06 sedan to dealership for this issue and Airbag Recall. Is a diagnostic fee due to oil consumption customary??
Why do I feel like I'm about to raped???

Wiz2, they didn't charge me a "diagnostic fee".
I was charged for the oil and filter change, though.

I was told that if the test is postive they will charge that to the OC issue. If not, I have to pay the diagnostic fee.
Never had OC signs. Dealer did my last oil change when I went in prior to warranty expiring. Car sounded rough on start up 3 weeks back, checked oil, it was below L and black.

If your paperwork prior to warranty up indicated anything about oil low etc on that service, your in b/c that's a pre-existing condition noted prior to warranty expiration.

Sounds like you'll not be charged that diag fee from the oil level on stick you mentioned, but how many miles was that?

No low oil prior to warrrarty expiring when I took it in at 55,800 that was April. Today it had 58,700 miles and I added 2 quarts to get a reading on Saturday. I've been drving my other car since I checked it and it ws crazy low. Got the car new in May 2006. Engine mods are minimal JWT intake and Motordyne spacer.

^Keep a copy of the current TSB with you every Dealer visit. Make sure they play by the TSB rules. Watch-out for games. Don't let your G out of your sight. Be present when they check level every time. Just mentioning a possible diag fee is a red flag. Nothing in TSB says anything about that even if you don't qualify for replacement after OC testing.

Did anybody in here have to go thru the tearing down the engine apart and check for manufacturing defects before the dealership can go ahead and order the new engine?
The service man told me that i have to pay for the cost of the taking the engine apart and then assembling it back together if they can't find any engine defects. He said this is the decision i'll have to make if i wanna take further steps. Btw, the estimate cost was given to me by the service manager was 5000-6000$ Can. from my own pocket if the engine not cause by manufacturing defects.

Did they really take apart your engine and look for it's defect? I was told the same but they said i'll have to pay for the entire cost of labor(5000-6000$ Can) for taking it apart and putting it back together if they don't find any defects. I'm thinking if i wanna take this chance and have them take it apart. what if they will make up stories that im the cause to the engine oil consumption and give them excuses to avoid the problem. Any tips?
