370Z springs experiment
#290
I've also considered this. For 370z's, the Nismo springs apparently lower that car by 0.4", which would probably be greater for a heavier G.
Not sure if this or the spring rate differences could be an issue, particularly for my heavier AWD.
Food for thought anyway.... I just bought my '08x. I immediately ordered an oem front lip and I'm looking for a moderate ~1" drop via Impul, Tanabe, or 370z springs. Impul springs are an expensive shipping option for Torontonians unfortunately.
Love the car so far, but no more mods after this....

^ I bought the 370Z springs used from Ian (InTgr8r, he started this thread). I didn't even bother to ask him what model they came from.
Hopefully he will see this post and have an answer for you or you could PM him.
$200 per 370Z coil spring is a lot. I paid MUCH less than that for both (barely used) including the shaved rear spring mount.

Thanks for the helpful input guys. I found plenty of willing used spring sellers on the 350/370 sites. can't wait to 'slightly' drop my x and and the front lip.
Might any of you know the rate and height differences between the 370 touring, sport, and nismo springs for our cars? I ask because there appears to be a much higher supply of used nismo springs vs. SPORT, which I know you guys have tested successfully :-)
I searched and many 370z owners say that the settled height of the nismo springs is the same as the sport springs, but somewhat stiffer and more 'fun'.

Ian shaved a couple of the ex stock mounts for when he tried this suspension setup on his G...I bought those mounts from him along with the front Springs.

See the info Ian wrote in post #147. He cut off about 1/2".

Thanks rpm, read through the thread, very informative. I'm going to buy a set and cut them and keep my stock ones in case I ever want to go back to stock height. Noticed a lot of people were running camber kits on the rear only as a result of the drop but then again that may be a result of the staggered setup that some had. rpm or Ian, have either one of you had to use a camber kit or did you just get an alignment?

^ just an alignment for this mild of a drop.
There is barely any addition camber created. Tire wear hasn't changed at all in nearly a year. Nice and even across the tread width.
I rotate when the winters go on in late Nov and come off in March/April.
After nearly 4 years she's at 61k km and probably 1/3 of that is on the winter wheels. I still have the original Eagle RSA's with 5/32nds tread left.
