Wes... if you can do overlays, you can do this. This was not a difficult project at all.
You're doing your own grounding wires? You can do this too.

If anything, why don't you get together with Ian and Wayne and have them help you?

Just do it already. Once you do, you'll kick yourself for waiting so long. It's not difficult.

How much again? for the set? lol

Its funny, I keep messaging and consulting with Wayne and Ian but havent had a chance to meet them in person yet. But I vow that I will meet them finally this year.

What made overlays easy for me was the fact that I know if screwed up.. I screw up 40 dollars of overlays.. no big deal. Unlike screwing up the airbag or something! :S

yes... grounding wires. Im thinking.. within 2 weeks from now. I will be hooking those bad boys up.

$195.

I'd do it for you if you didn't live 4 trillion miles away.
Come to Massachusetts... I'll make burgers too.

Unhook the battery and all your airbag worries go away.
This is the best DIY I have ever used. Every step was exactly as it was explained. I worked on the car with my laptop in the passenger seat. I took my sweet time and even used the 2 beer suggestion. Took me about an hour....again, taking my sweet time.

On a side note...I was surprised at how much our steering wheels weigh.

BTW, I'll throw a little more honey on this. I already have the torx bit necessary for the install. If you don't want to buy one or cant find one, PM me. I'll send mine to you to use and you can just ship it back when you're done.

I wouldn't push if there was a difficulty factor of anything above 3, but this is honestly easy.
Take your time (some people love to brag about how quickly they get a mod done) and this is honestly a simple mod.
My front lip was WAY harder to install than this.

Honestly, PM me if you need the tool.

I seen a post that ALL G35's come prewired for this except some 09's..

But just to clarify would my 05 G35x be wired for it? This seems like a pretty cool mod to do =)

Things worth noting:
Post #129 states that the base 07 models do not come pre-wired.
Post #165 shows a base 08 model was prewired
Post #135 shows Wes stating that he's too chicken to install these.

I know this particular kit is only for the 07+
I saw a few people with pre-07's installing paddles but they were after market which required a new steering wheel and everything. Why anyone would choose paddles over the factory airbag is beyond me.
Did the 05 have paddles as an option? If not, I wouldn't expect there to be harnesses there.
If they were an option (I don't think they were), the guys at Riverside would be able to help you with further info.

Wes, this install was so easy I did it without any tutorial, in the dark with just a flash light, while stopping periodically to snap pictures.

Even then it only took me about an hour.

"Post #135 shows Wes stating that he's too chicken to install these"

how much is this torque bit u speak off?

Lemo - u guys are really making it hard for me not to do it.

K, this will be the game plan. Im gonna install my bb wires first, work on my CF interior... then when Ive done those mods, then im gonna "probably" get on this padddles. SCREW the stealership and their void warranty businesss.... live a little right? lol

I couldn't find the single bit, so I bought a 1/4" drive set for about $35- from Sears.

DIY are now links; which is a sticky "DIY stickies here!"
They are grouped in a single thread for convenience & less clutter.

Because they are not individually 'stickied', they will float in the main section.
