Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if there's zero issues with warranty/reliability/etc... why wouldn't Infiniti offer this as the standard tune?

My guess is due to tolerance. Not every engine performs the same, so they establish a baseline and everything is patterned after that, then leaves the rest to the aftermarket. Sometimes they also do it for marketing/future-proofing, that is, they build something to support up to "y" but offer only "x" so it's something they can offer as an improvement during MY or mid-model year updates without having to go back to the drawing board, which can cost a pretty penny.

is there really zero issues with warranty work on this? something tells me the dealership will certainly frown upon it and try to deny engine work..

if i were you and i was to take my car in for some engine/tranny/electronic warranty related work i would go back to stock get the work done and then hook it back home when i get home, worth the inconvenience imo.

Dyno

I installed mine but have yet to get it dyno'd I was told by a friend at work that he could get me dyno time for $30 for a few pulls but he has yet to deliver on that promise The Triple Dog GT tuner has a performance monitor built in and lets you do some stuff like 0-60, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile etc... but while it is interesting it is not accurate as the data logger you download to display the HP and TQ graphs is at beta.bullydog.com and the beta part seems to be a key word in the address of the site for a reason...

Whats the difference between the power pup and the triple dog gas GT? Does the GT just add the gauges?

Where are you guys buying these things?

+2 degree's of timing advance can be "too much" in certain RPM zone (generally speaking low to mid range). I would be cautious, VERY CAUTIOUS with this device. Ultimately, it's you who is setting this value, I don't think this maker will warranty your engine.

You can find Infiniti techs out back behind the dealership that are willing to advance the timing 2 degrees for $20. How in the world do you think Infiniti would be able to void the warranty on the engine because an Infiniti tech advanced the timing with their own consult tool?

My dealership offer this as a service... No need to pay a tech out back.
If they do, I'm sure it's not a warranty issue.

So can't you just advance the timing at infiniti and not bother with the other 300 bucks and get the bullydog?

You can but A/F ratio and other parameters are also altered with the BD. Plus you can erase codes as well as have the possibility to receive future updates if available.

...any thoughts on the best way to dyno this thing?

I have a place lined up to do 2 pulls before & 2 after.
I'm just wondering if consecutive pulls is a good idea or not,
considering heat load for the last two & whether the ECU fully adapts, even with a quicky reset.

..or do two separate days after the ECU has learned the new settings.
- problem there is getting similar atmospheric conditions. (plus added cost)
