Really??? that is strange. i am just mounting it in the center of the windshield directly above the Nav screen.

Damn it.

We did two runs before and after and got A/F readings from exhaust probes. Stock: At 5,000 RPM, for example, the car makes 161.1 horsepower (remember that I'm at over 5,000 feet altitude) and runs at 11.7 A/F ratio, and after being tuned, it makes 156.7 horsepower at the same RPM and runs at 12.2 A/F.

I should also note that we ran the car about 10-12 miles at varying speeds on the dyno to let it acclimate to the tune.

I am going to upload the paperwork with all of this soon. There is also a chart that plots stock vs. tuned, and you can see that after the tune there is less power, torque, and the car runs leaner.

So my conclusion is ... anybody want to buy a slightly used Bully Dog Nissan Power Pup?
Did I miss something here? Where is the video and the dyno graphs?

Good deal - if this doesn't work out, may buzz down to Houston Performance and have them do some runs next week. The agreed approach was:
  • Install BD premium tune and timing advance, and drive for a couple of days to make sure the ECU is adjusted
  • Do at least a couple of runs with BD
  • Remove BD (back to stock tune), but keep timing advance (why not?)
  • Do at least two more runs

Right?

EDIT:>> BTW, my prediction is positive result, but <5 HP gain and only towards the upper end of rpm range.

Here's the info:

Dyno'd on a Mustang Dynamometer (www.mustangdyne.com)
Engine mods I have installed are z-tube and Stillen intake box with cone filter.

Baseline run - stock tune:
221tq/269hp
AFR ranged from 11.8 to 14.2 - pretty lean

Just the premium tune:
226tq/276hp
AFR dramatically stabilized ranging from 12.8 to 13.5

Premium tune with 2 degree timing:
we saw a decrease in performance with engine knock - 269.2hp

FINAL
Premium tune with 1 degree timing:
227tq/281hp, AFR's ranged from 12.8 to 13.5

All together we ran about 8 pulls, took an hour and a half and paid $125. If anyone's curious, the shop I went to is Sublime Speed Technology (http://www.sstracing.com/). All-in-all, I'm pretty happy seeing the AFR's level out and the Bullydog itself couldn't have been easier to use. I'll post back again after a few days to see if there's any more of a noticeable performance increase from the driver's seat.

Also, Brandon402 stopped by while we were finishing up and can backup these numbers for all the haters.

Graphs to come shortly...NOW:

3volved, did you dyno an a 2nd gen (VQ-HR), or your '05 coupe (VQ)? I'm confused by your sig, but can't see how you made 269 HP in a coupe so am thinking your sig just isn't updated...?

If it was an HR, great! If it was a 1st gen coupe, unfortunately us 2nd gen owners still don't have proof

Thanks for going either way

those are great gains! how did you do it? I mean, back to back? did you reset the ECU before the baseline run?

My 05 6MT is a HiRev.

Basically the baseline was a learned stock ECU tune with supporting mods (ztube and stillen intake). We ran 2 of those. Then I uploaded the premium bullydog tune. 2 runs with that. I advanced timing by 2 degrees. 2 runs there. Then, after we saw the knock with 2 degrees timing, we changed the timing back down to 1 degree advance. 2 runs there. The last time the ECU was reset was about a week ago when I installed the stillen intake.

What fuel octane were you running with the +2 timing?

Sorry, running 91 octane through the process. Should have included that.

Okay - great results, good news for you. And further proof that the BD does work on other vehicles.

But unfortunately we can't call this proof that it works on a VQ-HR, and thus 2nd gen sedans

Just reinstalled the premium tune on my G, will try and get to the dyno this week.

please do so. the DE's are usually even worse when it comes to tuning/modification so these graphs are very promising. I'm using 93 octane here, so knock shouldn't be an issue.

Dude, you're in Kuwait - you can probably get them to home brew any octane you want, never mind 93
