Just got a call from Sublime...they think the numbers I posted might be a bit inflated, they're in the process of checking the calibration of the dyno. However, the realized gains should be pretty much the same. I personally thought the baseline was pretty high for what it was, this would explain it. I'll update this thread if they find we do need to re-do the runs and post the new graphs should we go that route.

Haha, they just added a new fuel which is 101 octane (RON). That's somewhere between 96 and 97 octane (AKI). Pretty expensive at about $2.00/gal though

$2.00 a gallon! we would be kissing the ground here in the US if we had that again. I consider you lucky my man at that cost.

Just reinstalled the premium tune on my G, will try and get to the dyno this week.
Steve, just out of curiousity...
Do you feel anything once the BD is applied, or am I crazy?

wow, I don't like those AFR's at all.

13.3ish at redline is way too lean for my tastes.

It's not safe to up the AFR that much without watching the EGT's and adjusting timing as needed for knock and EGT adjustment.

If you go too lean and knock, your going to have timing scale back on you and reduced timing results in higher EGTs in addition to the increased temps from leaning it out.

Not my cup of tea.

It's funny you should ask. When I first installed the BD, no - seemed the same, and I figured "oh well, got rid of the speed limiter and raised the rev limit slightly, guess it was worth it."

But yesterday I did some "spirited driving" both before and after the BD install, and it does feel like I have more midrange with the BD premium tune installed. So yes.

BUT, rightly or wrongly my belief is that it's impossible to feel gains of <5% by seat-of-the-pants... So reality has to come from the dyno.

Agreed, I was just curious.

Okay, off to the dyno tomorrow evening. I plan to do four runs in this order, so we start of with the ECU adjusted to the BD:
  1. BD premium tune, no timing advance
  2. BD premium tune, 1 degree timing advance
  3. BD premium tune, 2 degrees timing advance
  4. BD standard tune (OEM tune), no timing advance - baseline

EDIT:>> No engine mods other than the BD

Didn't I read somewhere that the 5AT should do 4th gear pulls?

4th gear is the closest 1:1 for the 5AT. I may have missed this along the way but what if any mods are going to be on the car for testing?

4th on the 5AT is exactly 1:1 I believe.

Read it and weep

<400 feet elevation, 70 degrees, light rain outside (barometric pressure 29.91 in/Hg, if you're interested - am looking at my remote sensor )
  1. Premium tune, no timing increase: 256.3 HP, 229.05 tq
  2. Premium tune, 1 degree: 256.1 HP, 230.5 tq
  3. Premium tune, 2 degrees: 257.9 HP, 230.8 tq
  4. No tune, zero degrees: 259 HP, 231.5 tq (stopped at 6,400 rpm - could be it would have gone higher at 6,700, the max for the other runs. Ignore the 267 HP, that was due to the speed limiter kicking the dyno)

Interesting facts:
  • A/F mix was in the high 12:1 range for the first two runs; dropped to low 12:1 for run 3; and ran richest stock, in the high 11:1 range
  • Stock there's a clear gain starting at 5,400 rpm through 6,400
  • On the last run the speed limiter hit at 140. I had it set for 178, which worked for the first three runs - but somehow it must be linked to the tune, because although the BD showed 178 on the BD, the limiter hit twice and we had to stop the run.

Austin713 pointed out that maybe this means the best solution is stock tune and two degrees, which I didn't test. Could be? Your FI exhaust sounds great BTW

Haven't decided whether or not to keep the BD; not excited about losing a few HP, but like the idea of better mileage and removing the speed limiter. So mine may or may not show up on eBay for some lucky Titan (or 1st gen) owner

Or sell it locally at an extremely steep discount *ahem*. Could use the extra few hundred rpms on the track.

Any chance there are gains somewhere other than peak? Overlay of graphs may help. Another way to determine if there performance gains may be some time at the strip (prolly cheaper and more fun too ) Edit: Durrr nevermind just saw the attachments..... lol
