Tires for OEM 19s : The end-all thread
^^ You'll be fine, in fact it'll look better because the front sidewalls won't seem as stretched as with the original 225/40s. You may find a little difference in traction as the rears go bald and the fronts are still good, though.
You may throw off the VDC... there should be a certain ratio of the front tire diameter:rear tire diameter.
When I had the wrong sizes on in the rear, the car handled weirdly/differently. At least, that's my experience.

how does the use of a 245/35/19 with a 245/40/19 change that diameter ratio?
yes
i was wondering what is the downside on using 245/40 in the front instead of 245/35??? cause i was planning to get 245/40f and 255/40r but reading thru this thread had me second thinking my choose
Our car is staggered both in width and height. 245/40 in the front is bigger in diameter than stock. the G front tires should remain shorter than the rear in height for optimal performance. the front tires You chose are the same size as the rear.
K. Ive decided to get Falken 452's. Alot of good reviews. I have 25mm spacers all around. Looks great with stock Rays and Potenzas. (Potenzas suuuuuuuuck) I do not have my fenders rolled. Nor do I want to. I wanted to know if going 245/35/19 up front and 255/40/19 in rears would rub. Im new to this whole tire stuff and would like anyones opinion to anything I just stated.
Thanks,
Josh

Thanks for all of your wisdom over the almost 2 1/2 years of this thread.
I'm buying a set of OEM 19' Rays this weekend that have 235/35/19 on the front and 245/40/19 on the rear. Haven't decided what size to replace them with when they wear out, but have decided in the Vredesteins.

That's what I was afraid of. The tires that are already on the rims have over 50% of the tread left so I'll drive the hell out of them before replacing. I'm assuming you'll have 245/35 front and 245/40 rear when you're done?
You really think 255/40 is too big for the rear (as mentioned in another post)?

I have some 255/35s lined up for the rear. 245/35 front and 255/35 rear are Texan1's setup and I think he's got it right. 255/40 will be 0.3 in taller than the 245/40s and since they are 255 wide I'd be worried about rubbing (without a fender roll). No firsthand experience with those sizes, though, so I can't say for sure. Jeff92se seemed to think 255/40 might be problematic and I trust his opinion (no, really I do, LOL).
