Running a stretched tire(s) on the OEM 19's would not look right. Why don't you just run OEM set up (225/40/19F, 245/40/19) that's the closest thing to looking "stretched" without looking stupid on OEM 19's IMO

Back on topic, I pulled off my 19s yesterday in favour of Blizzaks on my stock sport 17s -- my rears are bald as a baby's ****...that's what happens when you get them off a TT coupe, LOL, but I can't complain the price was right. So now the search begins for some 255/35 Falkens to match my 245/35 Falken fronts.

twiblue, I can take pics of them on the shelf if you'd like, haha! None on the car, unfortunately, winter arrived here very suddenly. But who knows, supposed to be warm again on the weekend.

I disliked the stretched look of the 225/40s on the front because it didn't match the straight sidewall of the 245/40 rears.

Fetch, the 245/35s don't look stretched, kinda the opposite, a little 'bulged' if you know what I mean.

So i did it. I bought new tires for my coupe. Hankook Ventus V12 was my choice after researching and pricing. F:245/35 19, R 255/40 19. Looking good with 15mm spacers in front and 20mm in rear. No TPMS issues, great tires for my drive: 47 miles each way on highway, local twisties, and concrete jointed sections of road as well. Front increased the wheel gap a little thanks to 40 to 35 profile. Rear looks nice and filled in, finally. No plans to drop my car. These tires are good, better then the potenzas i will say. I know my route well and love to play in the twisties. Cant say anything bad about these tires yet. Quiet, comfortable, and they dont mind being punished. Im pushing my G hard into the corners without problems. Happy. 700$ installed.

Oh and by the way, tirerack didnt have them in stock and wanted 50$ for shipping. Discount tire was cheaper for the 4 tires and FREE shipping. Happy.

I asked this before, but just found some new info.
I just called a shop to get some tires for my oem 19s and the person recommended a 245/40/19 over a 245/35/19 with a 255/40/19 rear. He said that with the height stagger most people go taller in the front so he said that a 245/35 will be too short.
I used to have 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 with my old rims, in which case the front tire was bigger by .3in in diameter and he would be right.
With the 245/40 & 255/40 the front would be .3 smaller (vs .6 smaller in oem 225/40 & 245/40 setup)

Anyone think it would be ok to run 245/40 & 255/40?
I really wanted a 235/40 255/40 but Hankook doesnt make 235/40.

Very bad info he gave you. Rear tire must be taller as oem sizes. Oem size tires have the rear larger.
What your forgeting is you don't calculate the tire by the wall size, the wall is a percentage of the width

There is no way a 245 40 tire is larger than a 255 40. Just makes no sense.

I think by taller the tech meant taller than a 235 on the front not taller than the rear tire.

Polish, I'm currently running 245/40/19 all the way around and am contemplating 255's in the rear. The size difference is only 1% and will work just fine. I had 245/35's up front before and didn't like the ride or the look.

I think what he meant is that with 245/35 in front i am downsizing from oem (225/40) and with 255/40 in back im upsizing (from 245/40), this creates a bigger gap between the fronts and backs.
245/40 and 255/40 are closer in circumference to each other and still within oem spec.

My next question, what keeps VDC happy? I was under the impression that we want the front and rears to be as close to eachother as possible in size so that front doesnt spin faster than the back (and vice versa). Is height stagger needed to keep the VDC happy?

Yea, i thought that it would be strange to go smaller in front and bigger in back over oem, even though its still within spec and many people do it. If im going bigger in back i might as well go bigger in front to keep the ratio.

VDC likes tires to have very similar rolling diameters, usually less than 3% difference. That's why I'm considering 255's in the back. That leaves my difference at ~1%. I just don't want to have to roll the rear fenders.
